1. Now that I've sat for a minute and thought about it, I was thinking, maybe I could use a randomisation, like you said, but in a different kind of way: $max_rand = floor(1000 / $user['agility']); $chance = ($max_rand / (floor(0.02 * $user['agility'])); if(mt_rand(0, $max_rand) < $chance ) { // attack }   would this be plausible ? I know it would mean setting a cap on the agility stat :/
2. I'm trying to do my own attack code, and honestly, I'm finding it very difficult, mainly the maths behind it. If someone has a general theory for how an attack script should go then that would be very much appreciated. But at the moment I'm trying to have it so that there is a chance that when the user attacks, they miss. But i want this chance to depend on the user's agility. I dont know how to go about this. Obviously I cant have if($user['agility'] > 100 ) { // attack }   I'm thinking I need to use the $user['agility'] to form a decimal or an odd(chance), but I dont know what I can use to compare it. I know I could use something like if(mt_rand(1,2) == 1) { // attack } but it seems too trivial, means there is only a 50/50 (theoretically) chance and doesn't incorporate the users agility. any help on this matter would be very much appreciated! Thanks guys, Colum
3. Merry Christmas!
4. Sounds interesting, I'm particularly interested in this new approach you mentioned, let's just hope you finish it :)
5. Sounds very interesting yeah
6. Zettieee I'll pm you about it sure
7. Sounds interesting. I'm a decent story writer myself, but it depends how long / in depth a story you want whether I'll have time to help
8. Sounds interesting, but you say Moblords doesnt have a story , so what's the story for this one? I've found that if your starting with a blank canvas it's easier to set up an engine so to speak, a way for you to easily add new features, rather than frying your head delving into your code a few months down the line not knowing why you did what. Also a pen and paper really helps, have most of the main/essential features for your game planned out and do out a to do list. Once you finish a feature, check it off your list. To me it sounds like your basically reprogramming mc codes, so if you are, do so in a way that keeps the simplisticness of it, which a majority of players are used to

Mafia V2

what he means is that the user will come onto the page and see the main links in the centre of their screens, along that bar between the latest news and the date, it'll take links out of your menu so that its less full, and make some of the more important links easy to see and access
11.   £35 roughly $50
12. Thanks for the feeback :) I do indeed, have it all planned out and have tried to both have appropriate class options for each race, (i.e not all classes are available to each race) and try to balance it as well. So if a troll was to get extra strength, then it cant be a warrior because it would receive another strength boost, making it slightly OP, and even more OP as the user upgrades their race level. I think I have it balanced, but I'll only know for sure once it goes into alpha testing :)
13. Yeah, I've been toying with the idea of keeping it lol. Thanks guys :)
14. Screenshot of the inside of the game:
15. I've wanted a side project for a while, and this game has been planned for a while but I haven't quite got round to developing it completely yet. It isn't finished or close to being finished but I'd like to hear some feedback and criticisms on it. A fantasy themed Text-Based MMORPG built using my own custom engine. Story In the continent of Athrén Diar, there are two countries, Terrakesh and Raiti. These ancient lands are populated with all the races of Mullinvoid. In the past, all people lived in harmony, supporting each other when they needed it. Carickésh destroyed this. Carickésh was a Drow Lord, popular among radicals within the Drow community. He gathered a band of supporters, the Draknai, with the sole purpose of taking over as much of Athrén Diar as they could hoping to join the four kingdoms Yymak, Zwardi, Shorvast and Lumbrava into one, the Kingdom of Draknik. The Draknai scavenged the country, reeking bloodshed and devastation wherever they went, massacring any living person standing in their path. People, out of fear, joined the Draknai but before long a resistance group started to form, consisting of those who were not prepared to be driven into the ground by Carickésh and his followers. They named it the Rigyuiti. Soon the races of Athrén Diar were split between the Draknai and the Rigyuiti. The Drow, the Wraith and the Troll formed the Draknai whereas the Dryad, the Human and the Dwarf all made up the Rigyuiti. The two sides are in a constant battle for control, with battles being both organised and occurring spontaneously, forming a time of suffering, death and misery. This period of time soon came to be known as the Chaos Era! The story and the game are linked. Therefore the game has a continent, Athrén Dai, Two countries, Terrakesh and Raiti. Terrakesh has two kingdoms, Yymak and Zwardi, ruled by the Rigyuiti and Draknai respectively. Raiti also has two kingdoms, Shorvast and Lumbrava, ruled by the Rigyuiti and Draknai respectively. Features Currency - Credits : General game use Mythril Nuggets Faction/Political system - links the Rigyuiti and Draknai storyline, organised battles and sporadic ones all count towards an overall faction influence in each town/country/Kingdom. This depicts what faction rules the town/country/kingdom. Once one faction becomes the new dominant force, an election takes place amongst that faction to vote for the ruler of that place. This person can then set taxes on money, and the community mine, if the town has one. Fully fledged crafting system utilising 14 different ores. Ores can be obtained from mining. Can mine either clan mines, faction mine, or community mine. Community mine needs to be petitioned for by the players in a town, which the ruler then agrees to or disagrees to. The community mine gets upgraded by the players in that town, by donating money to it. They choose the type of mine it will be, gems, nuggets, mythril or ores. Gems - emeralds sapphires and rubies. Used to upgrade weapons. Races - Human Dwarf Dryad Drow Troll Classes - Archer Warrior Cleric Blacksmith Mage Fisherman Miner Faction wars - counts towards overall influence in the continent. Clans - Clan Armoury Clan mine Clan wars Other small benefits, help from other members of the game etc Travelling - travel oceans and countryside. Oceans requires boats, and takes you from country to country. Countryside doesn't require anything. Takes you from city to city. Attack system Fishing system, a way to make money. Markets to trade Npc Arenas Banking system, including a loaning system Real Estate system : can buy as many houses as you can afford and then can be rented out to other users. Houses increase inventory size. (A player realistically can't carry 10000 swords in his pocket) Mail system Notifications Chat Forums Statistics Questing System - some will be related to the storyline called the Adventure Quests. The others will be side quests to keep players occupied. Some gambling games. Weekly lottery. Shops to buy items and trade. Skills and Stats : a range of skills such as woodcutting, blacksmithing and fishing, all of which affect how good you are at each. Stats such as strength and agility used for battling Levelling system Leaderboards And more features yet to be fully planned!
16. I have never seen the table, so I was assuming what there would be. However i should have stated that what I had posted wasn't an actual fix, but something to think about.
17. Your sql query appears wrong. Your joining only the npc which had the same id as the user who is searching the street, try using ON cb.cb_level = u.level WHERE u.userid ='$userid'
18. Upgrade weapons. - add another resource in , scrap metal, something that can be scavenged and/or traded, used to upgrade weapons. Takes money out of the game if people have to buy scrap then pay to upgrade weapon. Can help prevent inflation, gives users something to spend time on. Mix it with player shops and they could set up a shop full of customised weapons. Fun little feature that can have them playing and working on stuff. Can be as advanced or as simple as you like. I might add this to the game I'm building now atm
19. Any time I go to make a game (which hasnt been for a while, although my interest has peaked again) I look back at the games I tried to launch in the past, which have all used mccodes. They all offered me one thing, simplicity, its easy for players to use and get used to, despite a lack of what I would call interesting features. Therefore nowadays when I'm looking for a side project, I work on my own game. A game that I'm building completely from scratch, but will keep the core values that makes games made with mccodes so popular.
20. The image i was telling you about that cuts the chat   Been fixed :)
21. Ok, so long story short, I was bored and felt like doing a bit of programming so I put this together. The only image is the "Game Name" logo, the rest is pure code. It utilises HTML, CSS, jQuery. The idea is to have both the login and register form on the same page but to keep a clean simple look to it. If anyone is interested then I'm open to offers, or if you would be interested if there was another feature in it then message me and I'll sort it out :) The screenshots are in the attachments, feedback welcomed.
22. Yeah thats why I said the bit:   although i never thought of it as using the money to pay a "wage"
23. You realise that non-profit allows you to make money, as long as your not pocketing some of it for other purposes? If he pays money on a server, then he can put say ads on his site that generates income which pays for the server. Example: Server cost for a week: £5, Ad revenue: £5. It covers the cost, but he's not making a profit. When the incoming becomes greater than outgoing costs then for it to be truly non-profit, he needs to invest that money straight back into the game, which can, therefore create a fabulous game full of bountiful features if managed correctly. Some people just have a passion for making a good game, they don't always see a need to make money from it.
24. Ignoring the copyright issues, and from looking at the screenshots, it appears to be a great game. A few things I've noticed. On the battle screen, there is a heck of a lot going on. It could be minimalised and look slightly simpler, therefore giving information to the user better. You can have an option to view more in depth info if the user wants. Another thing, is the game inflated? The user has what looks like over 1b gold and then you offer them 100k for voting.. Is there a market in the game where users can trade? If so, and your game actually started with people having a "lot" of gold, then if inflation happens, your users could end up with 100b or 1 trillion gold, and since you don't have any function to shorten it, it could mess up the design of your site /: just my thoughts otherwise it looks good.
25. I noticed the same thing with the login and register buttons. It almost seems like the register button could use some padding :/ but other than that it looks good. Another thing though, in the picture with the massive table, the red for "The Staff" is sore on the eyes. Just my opinion
