Coly010 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Quick question, do games that use flat templates look good or do I need to design something that looks flashy? I dont want to distract users too much and make it hard to actually view the page, plus I don't think I'd have the skill to design something professional :s Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 check out my flat design. http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/44101-Experimenting-with-flat-designs-CHECK!?highlight=flat+design Quote
Guest Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Basing it on the above, no you can't make a good flat design for a game. A game needs to be attractive Quote
Djkanna Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Can you make "flat design" work for a game, of course. A "flat design" can also be "flashy" depending on your definition of "flashy". "Minimalistic" and "flat" aren't interchangeable here. Quote
john. Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I could definitely play a game with a good flat design but it has to compensate lacking the art, say some interesting lore, game play or how unique the game is. Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I think flat is not bad. I just did terrible with that previous template lol. Quote
Coly010 Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 Well then I must look up how to make a flat design flashy and see if it is the sort of thing I'm going for. I still have other forms of graphics on the site, icons, pictures of items etc. Just not a template so to speak. I can usually put various shades of grey into an attractive web page all set against a black background, but I don't know how feasible this would be for a game. Quote
