Where you find your work?

Just wondering where people get most of their work from? Do you use sites like elance and freelancer.com or do you just find that Indians flood them sites with extremely cheap services?

i get all my hire work from here. im the one hiring. not trying to be racist here before anyone jumps on the bandwagon but i find it hard to communicate with the cheap indians and would rather pay a bit extra to get the job done right first time

Everytime I tried getting custom work done there they try to charge me a grip

From the work I'v tried bidding on they've always been picked as they drop there prices quite far.

Also do portfolio sites help gain customers? Obviously there good if you already have the customer to show off your work but what's your experiences of them finding new customers?

just mail them with you portfolio site when you have bidded

I get all of my contractor work from contacts...

I also do work for a guy who has his own business, but works on a contractor-only staffing model.
