Rasheed saeed Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I'm sure they have released the patches version of MC V2(I'm not sure...) But contact Danny or Jordan as they are both skilled/know what their doing developers. Quote
Paul Evans Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 If your asking for security for MCv2 and your budget is 150 then your doing something good. Quote
Lilith Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I had DJK do my site, he completed the task, secured additional files (not just the ones original to mccodes) and if any bugs were caused by the security, he fixed them as we found them. (mostly display of html due to my bad coding skills, and his being sick while securing my site). He did this for well within your budget. You should hit him up, Ive not had a single breach of security sense. Quote
Paul Evans Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I have to admit DJK is good but most people do that Lilith. Quote

This is true. Sadly I'm not available to do it, so I couldn't even take up an offer if I wanted to. I'd recommend Paul (above) or Equinox both of which know what their doing. Quote
Joshua Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 There are many on this board able to do the above. Djk--has stated he cannot Paul Equinox Jordan Myself Zeddicus Danny To name a few. Quote
Danny696 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 You code really :O Hehe, just joking, umm, we use to have alot more people who could do this, i suppose thats good for the people who can right xD Quote
Jordan Palmer Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 $150 is a good budget. I however will not nor cannot take on the job, I'm getting slowly involved with some rather good projects and doing Mccodes security really is a boring task. My person to fall upon with this would be Equinox. Quote
Lilith Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I was just trying to be helpful by providing what I have experienced in this area, I didn't mean to make it sound like DJK was the only option, just the only one I have direct knowings of. Quote
Paul Evans Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Ah Lilith i wasn't saying you were i was just letting people know theres alot more people who do it Quote
rulerofzu Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 The big question you should be asking is why AFTER spending $100 you need to spend $150 on getting it secured. :whistling: Quote
Paul Evans Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 LOL yeah mcv2 should be freeware considering how much time and money it takes to get a game going. Quote
a_bertrand Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I'm not sure I completely agree with you guys here. I do fully agree that a script should be as bug free and specially as secure as possible, however completely bug free and completely secure will never be the case with ANY software. Also, considering it costs only 200$, think about how much work it is to create something similar from scratch. I never checked the sources myself (also because nobody ever gave me access to them), but from what I know it is not just 2 files with 40 lines each. Now... check, if it is even 10 days work to create something similar from scratch, it would be still 20$ per days which is quiet cheap. So even if it is baldy written it offers a basic framework where to build your game on. And the fact it is not perfect it allows / force people to work it out. Sorry guys but I find completely stupid that some (if not many) of you wait that such a package is ready to go in production and you just have to copy some files and that you have a game ready without any work from you. Doesn't work like that, you should really think about your game, features, rules, story and the fact the game offers all even if not perfect it is just goodies, but hopping to away from your own work as owner is pure dream. Otherwise it would be too easy to have just a custom layout (basically a single background JPG) and a name change, and you would have tons of identical games which offers none interest to the player. As conclusion, if you are not ready to invest the time to make your game secure unique and appealing then you can forget having a game ;) Quote
rulerofzu Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Whilst the price is now relatively low for what you get should it just be left insecure and force you to do the work or pay someone else? I disagree. It was their choice to make the product and put it up for sale. Any software which is taking money surely has to give their customers a working product. Does MC work out of the box without a problem. No it does not and therefore it should be fixed. Ive purchased ecommerce php software for around the same price that mc2 was originally on sale for. The owners of the software spend a significant amount on security audits and has always released a minor patch within 48hrs and any major patch within 24. Yes bugs and exploits do occur but its how you manage them what counts. I agree with you A_B that people shouldnt expect to just be able to setup a database upload the files and have a game ready to play. MC is designed to be a base to build upon and you should be very clear what you intend to do before you begin. I just believe the base should be solid and not full of holes. Quote
a_bertrand Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Here I agree, just as a mere nice customer policy, bug fixes and security patches should be released. Also we are not talking about hidden holes we are talking about well known issues. However I was pointing out that if someone is not willing to invest the time to check what he pay for and spend some time him/herself customizing it, then it is better to change hobby. Quote
