CraigF Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Okay, I am very talented at creating xbox 360/PC games but need an idea, the only problem is that I have not learned how to do 3D but there are so many 2D games out there which are real fun, if any of you have bought/downloaded demos of the XBOX INDIE GAMES from the marketplace, that is what the game would be and thats where the game would be sold. So i'm trying to think of what kind of game I could do, i've got spare time to do it so I will get round to making the game but its the fact that I need a good idea that is doable and that should sell on the indie marketplace. If I get a good idea that I truely believe will work, There will be job openings for Graphics artists and any other jobs but also if it kicks off I will give % of profits made and also recognition in the game title or any other idea of where you may want your name such as a character/npc etc. Much appreciated, I look forward to seeing your ideas. Curt Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Hey, No offense at all but i don't see anyone giving away a GOOD idea to you so you can make money from it... This is where you as the developer must put that thinking cap on and start coming up with some ideas of your own :) I do think its pretty cool that you want to develop a game for the Xbox though and I wish you the best of luck. Thanks, Curt Quote
CraigF Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 Ohhh noo, because some people have a great idea for a game but don't know how to go about developing it as not everyone knows how to make an xbox game and have it submitted onto the xbox marketplace. That is why I said if someone has a good idea for a game and I go through with making it there will be profits shared in a percentage and also their name would be put into the credits. Quote
Curt Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 ah, my mistake i missed the part where you said you would give a Percentage to the person giving you an Idea that you decide to use.. as i said before best of luck to you :) Quote
CraigF Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 Thanks Curt, much appreciated! I've got a good idea me and my friend thought of, so were putting together ideas and notes of it and going to start coding some tomorrow. :D Exciting, but please share any ideas as I do plan on making more games. Dayo Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 any thing like this im sure i would want a contract of some sort, plus if im right you have to submit the game for it to be aprovedso there is a chance it wont even make money Quote
CraigF Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 There are a few ways to sell the game as it would be for Xbox 360 aswell as for the computer as there are few easy modifcations to alter for it to be playable on either and therefore boosting chances of sales and profits. You pay around $100 a year to have a xbox game developer licence and you would only need to submit it to be approved but the aproval process is not too strict. Quote
a_bertrand Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Honestly I believe that developing for XBOX is a lot restrictive and you would have a bigger market share to develop for windows instead. But that's my opinion of non-console owner... so maybe I'm biased here. Quote
CraigF Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Fair point but on the Xbox there is a section of the marketplace called "Indie Games" which are games that have been made and submitted. These games sell for around $1 for basic and a bit more for better games. Because of the low price people buy them willingly and therefore much more people can do so just like the iPhone app store, there are plenty of Apps on there for $0.99 and for that reason, much more people would buy them! 10 people are quite likely to buy a basic $1 game that someone who they havent heard of has created rather than a $10 game that only 1 person may buy?. In my opinion. But as stated, the game can and will be sold online maybe using Steam? I heard that is possible but also on a site link etc etc. Quote
