iSOS Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 So you didn't dual boot them, like you said you would.? I know you said there wasn't a "Try/Demo" option, But I've installed ubuntu a few times now and it has always had that option, and that's what I suggested first. I also remember you looking around the NET for any compatibility issues with your Internet drivers ect. You did find some 'instructions' so I'm guessing that meant there was compatibility errors, You should have printed them out or something. If you have completely deleted your Windows partition, If I'm correct there is no way to get it back unless you download a *warez* version of windows, or buy another Windows disk. Quote

Always dual boot with new OS's redex... The try demo option is on every windows disc I am aware so I don't know how you could of not found this? Are you trying to use a wireless card? If so which one and what model and so on. You can download a warez version of windows as long as its your current version and hasn't been tampered with! Then enter the serial on the sticker on the side of your machine. Quote
a_bertrand Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Actually normally a PC comes with a recovery disk / dvd / cd which should allow you to rebuild the pc as it came from factory. Check if you didn't received those. If yes run those and you will have back your windows machine. Quote

But normally a PC would have the Windows disc image stored onto a Disc drive which is hidden from view, When installing Ubuntu if you choose to use all disc space for the OS it will remove this partition thus removing your recovery disc. This is only the case with some companies but dell being dell it should be rather easy. Quote
