  1. Re: Battletent Fix ^^ Python does, you use tabs instead of brackets Also, it's much easier to debug and read if it's spaced out enough, and indented
  2. Re: [showcase] Red Fury Looks great, although that's an odd collection of countries you used :p
  3. Just something I learned today which might come in handy I had to cut down this set of queries: db::query('update `company_staff` set `money_earned` = `money_earned` + "' . $split[1] . '" where `rank` = 1'); db::query('update `company_staff` set `money_earned` = `money_earned` + "' . $split[2] . '" where `rank` = 2'); db::query('update `company_staff` set `money_earned` = `money_earned` + "' . $split[3] . '" where `rank` = 3'); db::query('update `company_staff` set `money_earned` = `money_earned` + "' . $split[4] . '" where `rank` = 4');   Which was obviously pretty inefficient, especially when it was inside a loop. Asked for help, and this is where Mysql's case comes in   Long story short, I ended up with this: db::query('update `company_staff` set `money_earned` = `money_earned` + ( case when `rank` = 1 then "'.$split[1].'" when `rank` = 2 then "'.$split[2].'" when `rank` = 3 then "'.$split[3].'" when `rank` = 4 then "'.$split[4].'" end )');   i.e. 4 queries down to one 8-)
  4. Re: Allows you to email all your game users and BAM your servers dead. Use smtp at least or use some sort of scheduler
  5. Re: [MOD] UPGRADE Retrieve original Password If they email your password, then it's insecure. It doesn't matter how many layers of encryption or security they have, it'll be insecure, and I wouldn't really trust it.
  6. Re: [MOD] UPGRADE Retrieve original Password You can, but that'd be silly The ONLY way that security works well enough is if you hash the passwords one way, and if people need it, they can set a new one. Don't even think about sending them the hash, or sending them an unhashed password, just reset it. Don't bother with retrieval, if people are too lazy to set a new one if they forget it, then too bad
  7. Re: [MOD] UPGRADE Retrieve original Password .......
  8. Re: Spanish What team? You can apparently make a game, and you know spanish, BAM there's your team
  9. Re: Spanish Do it then
  10. Re: German - Learning it (Have been for 3 years) "Hello.. something something german? I'm learning german in school. This is something interesting?" How'd I do? No clue but that's what most of the words look like lol. Always wanted to learn other languages
  11. Re: Owner Panel V.2 The internet police? He better watch out
  12. Re: The world mite end on Wednesday 10ths september 2008... Geography! France is NOWHERE near Sweden, they're on opposite sides of Europe almost. CERN is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and the LHC is on the Swiss/French border
  13. Re: user profile sigs (BBcode) That bbcode engine is horrible and massively excessive. Find a better one, posthaste!
  14. Re: Grammar Lessons   That isn't irony :p
  15. Re: The world mite end on Wednesday 10ths september 2008... Better info that isn't from the Daily Fail: http://press.web.cern.ch/press/PressRel ... 8.08E.html
  16. Re: The world mite end on Wednesday 10ths september 2008... There's 'coincidence' to the 2012 crap, such as the "Planet X will collide with Earth" (the planet x that doesn't exist, that is), the calendar junk, ancient stories and tales and whatever else. And they all point to the end of the world in the year 2000. Oh wait I mean 2003. No wait 2012!
  17. Re: The world mite end on Wednesday 10ths september 2008... Sorry to bring you bad news again, but it's not going to end in 2012 either, the Mayan calendar doesn't end it just starts another 'cycle'.. it'd be like us thinking the world will end every december 31st
  18. Re: The world mite end on Wednesday 10ths september 2008... They turned it on and sent one beam in one direction, they didn't actually do any atom smashing yet, that comes next month. It's just the media enjoys not knowing anything about science and blowing it out of proportion
  19. Re: Advance mail box Damn, that's extremely badly made Mr Pog
  20. Re: Counting (nr game) 1994! burn!
  21. Re: The world mite end on Wednesday 10ths september 2008... I'd take those 1% chances, but it's not even that, there's a near-zero chance anything will go wrong, so small you can ignore it anyway. There's a nonzero chance that brushing your teeth will spawn a black hole, but the chance is small you don't worry about it, same thing here. Scientists were worried in the first atomic tests that the bomb would ignite the entire atmosphere, but they did it anyway, and we're fine (the rest of the world that is) I'd rather spend billions on science than billions on wars
  22. Re: Crons You have a space after the slashes
  23. Re: Sick & Tired I have an entry: http://www.google.com Just something I whipped up earlier, still testing it. Don't have much bandwidth so be careful
  24. Re: Sick & Tired You have low standards then
  25. Re: Google Chrome I think they also said they wanted to help enable web apps that are basically a lot more advanced, the debuted Gmail back whenever which pushed the limits of the browser already, so now they can set the limits themselves. Google already gets plenty of info from it's toolbar, they also said (haven't checked the source) that there is no reporting sort of feature, the only contact is the download of malware/phishing sites
