  1. Re: Help needed! guess you never advertised PTCs is pure traffic generating, doesn't get you signups at all ok one of my campaigns on adtoll Total Views: 3,533,596 Total Clicks: 1192 Cost of this ad campaign $20 I can easy post 100s of my ad campaigns some that even cost 20 cent and generated +100 clicks and 100k views. Be honest with yourself jaye1, you are a PTC owner you know that games don't get signups from PTC sites. PTC members aren't interested in sites they just want 1 cent. As said you can as well use a free autosurf program for traffic generating instead of paying on a PTC site.
  2. Re: Help needed! PTC's is thrown away money users from ptc sites aren't interested in the sites advertised, they click to get a 1/10th of a cent or so... first game owner that can proof he gets signups through a PTC site, gratz PTC sites are only good for traffic generating, which you can get for free from auto surfers.
  3. Re: Help needed! That's a risk you have to calculate.... 1 min signups... - signups, but don't activate their account (if e-mail validation) - signups, that don't like the game playfield and never login again Other costs that you have to calculate in kinda - clickfraud - clicks on your ad banner but no signup - signups but forgotten the url, clicks ad banner on a diff site to get back to the game aka quicklink... avg lets say on $200-$300 you would see around 1000 signups... how many that actively play maybe 100 first week, 50 max afterwards
  4. Re: Help needed! advertising can be really costly, if you have a limited budget eg $100 take 5 diff ad sites and spend $20 on each and see... And it's not about getting 1000s of users with ad campaigns, you need to get active and donating users. GAO is really great if you have a large fund for advertising, getting 300 signups within 5 minutes. But there is a price ticket on it... and not everyone gets so easy accepted there. easy $1000 spend/day. (If interested you can use me as referrer ([email protected])) cpmstar is also top notch, again difficult to get a account and min deposit is $1000 I suggest play around , test several out and see what the cpa is, in other words what it actually costs you per click and how much rev you have seen from those signups. I know ad sites where you will get easy 100s of signups but poor quality signups, Other ad sites will have like 10 signups but high quality (aka donators). I made some time ago a advertising breakdown http://criminalexistence.com/ceforums/i ... ic=23329.0 oh and...   That's a wrong concept, impressions are as much important as signups. Getting your game known around the net, so ad banner impressions with no or a minimum of clicks is important also. md
  5. Re: Multi IP Prevention Ever heard of the AOL DNS pool ? Dynamic IPs ? Your locking out thousands of potential players, there are far better methods in tracking/stopping multi accounts than solely IP. md
  6. Re: Blow members minds with the ULTIMATE explore page   That you are nothing with it if you can't read/understand the generated source code.
  7. Re: Blow members minds with the ULTIMATE explore page Yea I have 3 licenses for all coffeecup software, I should pass one to you Nyna. Coffeecup has a excellent image mapper tool. Often imitated Never duplicated ! CoffeeCup Image Mapper has mouseover HTML capability, includes a fully functional image map wizard, and enables users to attach parts of an image to different links. Image Mapper can map any noninterlaced GIF, interlaced GIF, standard JPEG, and progressive JPEG, PNG as well as the first frame of an animated GIF. Users can choose from three different shape methods for mapping those hard-to-reach spots. Image Mapper supports mouseover pop-up tags, frame targeting, image previewing, and link and mouseover memory. 8. Re: InnoDB or MyISAM Sure google uses mysql but not for their online apps aka search engine, maps, etc mysql can't handle nor in the near future multi clusters with petabyte sized databases. I'm sure their are ways but what a mess would that be. And as far as I know all reasearch labs have multiple *nix OS, other OS and multiple RDBS , even allmighty microsoft uses *nix and google has their own version of ubuntu, HP labs has their own *nix also. I also don't get it that 'blogs' are more trustworthy than info directly from google labs.
  9. Re: InnoDB or MyISAM   Now that's new for me afaik google used Oracle till they had Bigtable developed, was once posted or still is at http://labs.google.com/ ah... Bigtable clusters have been in production use since April 2005, and we spent roughly seven person-years on design and implementation before that date. As of August 2006, more than sixty projects are using Bigtable. writing to:   // Open the table Table *T = OpenOrDie("/bigtable/web/webtable"); // Write a new anchor and delete an old anchor RowMutation r1(T, "com.cnn.www"); r1.Set("anchor:www.c-span.org", "CNN"); r1.Delete("anchor:www.abc.com"); Operation op; Apply(&op, &r1);   reading from:   Scanner scanner(T); ScanStream *stream; stream = scanner.FetchColumnFamily("anchor"); stream->SetReturnAllVersions(); scanner.Lookup("com.cnn.www"); for (; !stream->Done(); stream->Next()) { printf("%s %s %lld %s\n", scanner.RowName(), stream->ColumnName(), stream->MicroTimestamp(), stream->Value()); }   anyway here is the link http://labs.google.com/papers/bigtable-osdi06.pdf
  10. Re: Donator Items What's the point of running a game if you don't even know the basics of php/html ? Fast cash cow to ditch when revenue drops ?
  11. Re: Need Help With My Crimes, PLZ HELP!   Well you start with the basics, learning to read the source, now if you figured out where it went wrong shouldn't be so difficult to fix it else you wouldn't be able to read scripts and understand them.
  12. Re: Blow members minds with the ULTIMATE explore page didn't botherd to read all replies, just topic starter this is pure html 101, super easy to do with whatever image you have, heck there are even tools that generate the coords on the dead CT project (2y+ ago we used image mapping already) now I have to say, most people know only the extreme html basics which is just creating a table so nice to see someone using more available html syntax. md
  13. Re: New Donations Page lol funny as we use the xe data feed on Amazon-Survival, mods arise with xe in it mentioned ;) anyway as nyna says read on arrays and you will make it a lot easier
  14. Re: Game Advertising - breakdown - updated first post with pbbgads and advertbox + cmpstar info
  15. Re: Game Advertising - breakdown - pbbgads.com seems to be my mistake After selecting a RON (Run On Network) you have to say also how many clicks you want max/day. My mistake was by not filling it in tha, my thought was that it would be unlimited. Results are very low, $10 test spend will most likely last for like 2 months.
  16. Re: Game Advertising - breakdown - It's about clickfraud nothing else, other ad networks where there is a bit to much clickfraud have also been contacted yet they never made such a fuss nor lies. Yet they agreed that there is clickfraud and that they look to improve their system. This post was a breakdown of own experience. One I didn't ad is pbbgads.com , no clicks/no impressions at all.
  17. Re: Game Advertising - breakdown - UCC I prefer to believe nyna logs instead of yours and your site is full of clickfraud as you know. And hey test spends don't have to be much at all. Even the logs you send have UNKNOWN IPs guess you need to learn to fetch IPs better. You know very good that there is way more than 3 fraudulent clicks and that several of your publishers abuse it. 10-15 clicks a day *cough* If you would do anything against clickfraud then you might have seen serious spends. lets say $4 clickfraud a month (not much) , nyna's time to produce the logs, my time to disect the logs it's bit more than $4/ month on yearly base it's easy a few $100s thrown away. Learning to read raw access logs + learning how to use excell might help The suggested sollution I've send you would bring clickfraud down also , locking publishers to click ads on their site(s)
  18. I've done test spends on several ad networks, so here is the breakdown. Hopefully this will help some gameowners to decide what would suit for their game. Results * ApexGamingAds - bonus 20% first deposit - clickfraud 1% (acceptable) - impressions low - singup conversion rate: High Note: One month RON campaigns cost is close to $100 * AdToll - bonus None - clickfraud 0% - impressions Very High - singup conversion rate: medium Note: RON ad campaign , $50 ,category online communities and gaming lasts 1 month with millions of impressions. * ReachAds - bonus None - clickfraud 2% - impressions [blow[/b] - singup conversion rate: low Note: very basic adsite, same engine as advertiseyourgame which explains the clickfraud. Low budget $25/month for a ad campaign. * AdvertiseYourGame - bonus 20% first deposit - clickfraud +5% - impressions low - singup conversion rate: medium Note: after contacting the owner about the clickfraud, got a nasty mail back with forged logs so I asked a full refund through paypal. * Ad2games - bonus 25 euro (around $35) no deposit required - clickfraud 0% - impressions high - singup conversion rate: high Note: high budget needed to use them 75 euro deposit is gone in a few hours. * Game-Advertsing-Online - bonus None - clickfraud 0% - impressions high - singup conversion rate: high Note: extreme high budget needed, euro 250 deposit vanished within 3 hours, same engine as apexgamingads * pbbgads - bonus None - clickfraud 0% - impressions low - singup conversion rate: low Note: You have to ad how many clicks/day else the ad will not be published even after selecting it as campaign * advertbox - bonus 10k Free Impressions - clickfraud - didn't check yet - - impressions medium - singup conversion rate: low Note: Cheaper to buy advertising through their rate card at AdToll than on their site $9/12 weeks No compiled stats yet for * cpmstar min campaign deposit $1000 lasts 5 days possible for lower     Excluded ad sites that only have flash game sites as publishers. md
  19. Re: Cheburn (adam) Torncity and was it not based on habbo where ched was a top player... And like L1 says, he is a tiny player in the browser game market... tons of games with over a million players with activity way beyond what TC has.
  20. Re: Register.php create user on SMF Forum most easy way: When someone signup at the game have the register process also to update the smf_user table as said you need the md5+salt you will not clutter your game user table then with the smf_user table Players will still need to login at the forum to use it. Unless you set the smf cookie also at game login. Best is still to start with a fresh game to have less issues, with a existing game , will be some work

  22. How To Choose A Website Layout The layout for a website is as important as the content that is chosen for the website itself. This is because the layout decides how easy a website is to navigate and how easy it is to find things on it. You have probably noticed yourself that there are layouts which are fast and easy to use and ones that you spend more time looking for what you want than it takes to obtain the information once you have found it. Overall people are more likely to visit and return to websites that are easy to use. Also layouts that are easy to use are usually easier to create. There are a couple of different aspects to a website layout. The first is going to be the design. How is it set up? Where is everything located? Does it contain everything that you are looking for or that you want to have on your website? Keep in mind that you can use different layouts for different pages. Just because they belong to the same website does not mean that they are required to be uniform. Though it does help to maintain a sense of uniformity it is not necessary and many people choose a variety of layouts and templates for their websites depending on the subject matter. In this way you can think of a website as a scrapbook each page presenting a different theme or event. The choice of uniformity or choosing a variety of templates and layouts really depends on what you are looking for and how much work you want to put into the website itself. You may also want to check to see if the website builder you are using supports multiple layouts. There are some which are single layout based. You are going to want a layout that is not too busy that it detracts from the purpose of your website which is the content on it. The layout is also based on what you are presenting. If you are presenting primarily text you are not going to want a layout that is primarily for pictures and visa versa. You will also want a layout which provides all the link and page option requirements that you need. Adding additional spaces is not difficult but you can cut work down considerably with the right template. You will also want to make sure that the background colors are easy on the eyes: bright colors and multiple colors are great. However, if you can not read the text because of the color or it is hard on the eyes chances are you will end up losing visitors. After you have chosen the type of template, the colors and the pattern if necessary, it is important to make sure that everything you need, link and page buttons, banners and menus are placed in the proper place. There are a number of template options that will allow you to choose the placement of the various parts. Choose these options next in order to complete the layout for your website.

  25. Re: Ce going over the top with there promoting?   i don't think the users of CE care what they are doing with the site but the emails. but i do think this topic is just a bit over the top over an email :| Wasn't due to the CE e-mail, I changed some stuff and accidently it changed also the forum title, so instead of CE Network > General CE Zone it said CE Network - Amazon-Survival > General CE Zone I didn't paid attention on it till I got awake and fixed it instantly Ok what's the next complaint ? I see the AS banner on CE ? doh, that's a adtoll Run On Network campaign, shows on all publishers of adtoll
