1. It won't be huge from the start, because we aren't delivering a perfected product as soon as we release. The way we do it, is we release a early phased product (hence why it's called pre-alpha) and then focus on releasing multiple updates per week. The 20x money won't ruin the economy, because we've worked really hard and have done all the math involved with the game for it to be valuable for those players. If you aren't already familiar with, I've ran many games plenty of years ago so I know this industry and the common mistakes very well. That doesn't mean I'm immune from failure, but it reduces the chance of it failing and with some really talented engineers on board, it should be a great adventure that we would like you to join us on. On that note, first impressions are totally welcome. :)
2. Hello, It's been quite a while since I have been involved with text-based games. As of yet, me and a couple of friends have decided to come to a reasonable agreement that will result in us making a huge MMORPG game with a lot of money to be invested within the game. A lot of work is going in, and we have talented developers, and a lot of other innovations that we'd welcome you to come and see. We plan our soft launch in the next 10 days, where we will be in pre-alpha. You can sign up to our pre-registration at http://criminaloutlaws.com where you'll receive a whopping 20 times more starting cash than standard players and a unique badge! Hopefully, with your support and help, we can help become a great MMORPG with the potential to grow as big as TornCity or even bigger.
3. I've recently got into CodeIgniter and I have to say it's one of the best things I've done in my developing career. I don't think I will move from CodeIgniter to a framework, as it provides me with everything I need to build a powerful system. The disadvantages of CodeIgniter is that it's not that advanced yet and takes quite a while to learn, but Yii, Zend and CakePHP takes ages to learn. You could say CodeIgniter is to Yii what jQuery is to MooTools. It's simple and allows you to write beautiful code, but it can only go so far.
4. Thanks for the kind words Jordan. I'm not looking for any game, I'm looking for one that needs someone anyway, otherwise they wouldn't need to propose it to me. And also, if I feel that the person is considerable enough to take their responsibility up once a game spikes up in popularity, that would be really important.
5. I may have explained it wrong. They are some options, but the options I am willing to take will vary, I might not even pay anything to specific owners and just take a cut in exchange to helping them make a good fortune. I won't be losing money, however if I feel there is a low-risk investment for me and my investors I won't mind injecting small funds to acquire some or all of the assets of a game. Hope that really does clear up the clutter I make when typing too fast.
6. Hello! As you may or may not have known me, I'm Bill or you may know me from my alias, oxidati0n. I have been a part of Make Web Games (formerly CE) since it's very early days, and I have been involved with some of the MCCodes successors, aswell as making my own game when I was around 13 years old, then I moved into other industries and made a fortune. Now, with a lot of experience and financial support whenever needed, I am looking to take up a very rewarding business opportunity with a person at MakeWebGames or outside these forums. I am currently having my own game built, which is always in delays because of my time, so I would also like to take up a MCCodes games opportunity and I will do several options, which vary from buying your site outright to doing a 50% deal in return for me to take profits. I'm only seeking this opportunity to rebuild up any new trends built up within the industry while it being lucrative for me and my potential colleague, so I really see why I shouldn't start here. Whether you're already earning $5,000+ a month or you're earning very little ($5 to $10 here and there), as long as you are earning it shows you must be doing something right and I want you to flip that into 10, 20 or even 30-fold more money while also making it fully lucrative. Now, I don't want to leave you lost. What experience and values could I give to you and your game: Valued and Happy (and more!) players as I know very large gaming companies and I believe that I can help fulfill the popularity of large games, aswell as previously stating having large experience with the industry from starting my own game when I was only 13 years old and in High School. Can increase revenue as I talk business as high as five figures, so you know that I can associate you with the best revenue tactics from the start-up and technology industry. I work with veteran developers as I run my own technology firm and my developers I usually lease out at a very high amount of money (starting price $200/hour) and they are very experienced, I will either lower the price or provide it at my expense should I feel it is a worthy investment. Lucrative & Exclusive Deals as I know large providers, so I could help you give out great products to your customers, whether it's an iPhone or holiday, I have a lot of entertainment-based contacts that can help a game incentive. Innovation as that's my core focus in business, I like to innovate and bring out new things aswell as try new things. I take innovation slowly while using powerful effects from doing it. World-Class Privately Owned Hosting as I own a server rack at LiquidWeb, costing thousands of dollars per month, so you have all the resources you need and limitless control within your business. Popularity as I am a very highly known figure in the text-based gaming industry, and I can help get you highly recognized where you are not currently and introduce you to bigger and much more professional people to take you from your current league whether amateur or professional and take you to the highest industry in the market where the big money is sitting. I need a small proposal from you, and make sure you have good writing and punctuation (I don't care if you use a tool or something) because I won't work with someone that cannot make the effort of make a good appearance in every virtual aspect, because in all respect, I won't just work with anyone. I'm friendly and communicative, so don't be shy to ask anything. I will post whenever I will no longer be accepting applications or proposals from anyone. Spamming will be ignored. Thanks!
7. It entirely depends on the specifics of your market, if you make yet another Torn City you'll end up competing with some of their players and I don't think that is a concept that is worth doing. Why? They don't want to play something they already have done for ages. They want the same concept but not the same look and feel, because if they are playing another game they want that little sense of appeal, whether it's a feature or a design that will help them come to your game instead. That is the key. Then again, players like competition while also having a good insight to being the top. There is many key factors, and making it as interesting as possible without being stupid is possible, might be hard but it varies from different industries and the more you tailor it to a fair and unbiased game the better you will get in revenue. Copying Torn City is like trying to make another Twitter. It's already been done and milked and all you're doing is picking up a odd couple of the remainders who don't use the bigger competitor. Unless you have something so brilliant it will swift all your competitors customers away, it does seem kind of pointless unless you are desperate for a couple of bucks, but a large amount of time, the people are in it for the long run.
8. Re: Next Generation Browser Game Engine - Input Request   Good for you. I like your response. There's no point exaggerating MD's engine, as simply "unique" doesn't give us a insight. For all we could know it could be horribly unique, or excellently unique. All in all, I'm just going to have to see with what I'm competing with (if).
9. Re: FlameSpark - Test us now in BETA! Well considering right now, that's all you guys can see, I understand your viewpoint. However, I didn't accomplish a mission to succeed the engine. It's not stripped down, it's a whole new system. I will only wait for you to see. :)
10. Re: FlameSpark - Test us now in BETA! It's not 15% done. The engine is completed, now it's just about adding the features to make it a "game". It isn't pre-alpha, because it has been checked and debugged, so it's good enough to be in BETA.
11. Re: FlameSpark - Test us now in BETA!   That's perfectly fine. :)
12. Re: FlameSpark - Test us now in BETA!   I hope you do acknowledge that FlameSpark is going to a whole new engine based on Text-Based RPG games. It already has a module system, monitoring system, and extremely lightweight infrastructure. Most of the work is in the code, and I am only providing the engine, the expansion is up to the owners to do. I'll be providing basic usability. I am taking feedback at this point, too. I will take all feedback into consideration.
13. Re: FlameSpark - Test us now in BETA!   The internal JS render is not developed yet. I want to see if the work so far works for anyone, in any circumstance.
14. I'm glad to reveal the early BETA produce of FlameSpark v0.1 to CE Users! Remember, this is REALLY early version but the hardest bit is done. Now it's really simple to get hooked with. It's available right now: http://www.bilawal.co.uk/flamespark/demo/ I strongly encourage developers/coders to look how the HTML is rendered. That's pretty much how easy it's built, and all the customization is up, and render is in the backend. What's done for you to see: - Cookies enabled login. - Completely fully revamped infrastructure. - Quad-layered structure. - Simple JS backend render. - Templating and Modules System.   What's in development: - One-click "bookmarklet" for software verification - External license vendor (So you can sell licenses as your own). - White-labelling. - Game conversion (to give the same look & feel of a MCCodes game).   Most of the work is internally, as the engine is going to be as minimal as possible. The reason for this is games are usually based in different niches, so I want to give you the earliest possibility to get a game running. Features like "insta.ller" which is a instant installer should be completed before release, which gives you quick "buy and setup" capabilities for your game. As always, new games start off low, but I want to give you the biggest capability as possible. A documentation/wiki is being written up too, which is published online. We'll be letting you know about that later, usually a few days before the software is released. The documentation will be supported by some people that will have early advantages of the software and will be able to documentate it for coders like you to understand what it's all about. I'm so open about the development of this engine, I'd be glad for you to see it. I don't want to hide it from you, and then turn your patience into disappointment. I want you to know what you're supporting and potentially buying, and this is the best way I know for you to do that.   The main elements such as gameplay is still in development, but the main thing that was in my focus was to get the infrastructure developed. It's really powerful, and I am extremely proud of what I've managed to do. That's all my work right there. Anyway, I'd like your feedback. Registration will close soon, so don't expect this to be open for long. Once I've closed registration, no more registrations until release. So, get in now and watch me develop it live! :)
15. Re: [V2] Saved Events Ah right. Does that include the debugging for all browsers? And, does it include programming for non-javascript users? Oh, and, is it exploitable through JavaScript misuse? Good luck with your theory. JavaScript is the Web2.0 but you're going to need to secure it with both JS and PHP. That way, it's easier for it to process, and that it is professional for your web app.
16. Re: Mail Bomb Pro Version Show me a game with this mod, I'll be able to hack it within a minute.
17. Re: [V2] Saved Events AJAX isn't play dough. It's harder to develop than you think.
18. Re: [ANY]Source Viewer No worries. If you run WHM and have root access, look in your PHP configuration and disable function "show_source()". Problem solved.
19. Re: [V2] Saved Events   I don't know the identifier for DB in order to use mysql_affected_rows. Sorry dude, didn't know your buds tingled through your *hints*.
20. Re: [V2] Saved Events   LOL. Here we go, another "coder" who thinks he's better than anyone else. It's slightly optimized, by using "union" queries and not creating a whole new table dedicated to a really small modification. I am limited to how much I can optimize it, as the engine doesn't have much options to it's optimization - it would be useless for me to even put that in.
21. This is an optimized/revamped version (revised from BlackVengeance's Mod). I just updated his modification by highly optimizing and cleaning it out, but original code credit goes to him. :) This is my first mod in 3 years for MCCode, so give me a break if it doesn't work :P Execute MySQL Query ALTER TABLE `events` ADD `evSAVED` INT( 11 ) NOT NULL ;   Replace events.php with this <?php include_once (DIRNAME(__FILE__) . '/globals.php'); if ($_GET['action'] == "delete" && is_numeric($_GET['id']) && is_boolean($_GET['id'])) { $db->query(sprintf("DELETE FROM `events` WHERE `evID`='%u' AND `evUSER`='%u'", abs(@intval($_GET['id'])), abs($userid))); echo 'Event Deleted (even if it was saved). '; } else if ($_GET['action'] == "delete_all") { echo 'This Will Delete All Your Events. There Is No Undo, So Be Sure. > Yes, Delete All My Events > No, Go Back'; exit($h->endpage()); } else if ($_GET['action'] == "delete_all" and $_GET['auth'] == session_id()) { $amountq = sprintf("SELECT COUNT(*) AS cnt FROM `events` WHERE `evSAVED` = '0' AND `evUSER`='%d'", abs($userid)); $amountq = $db->query($amountq); $amountq = $db->fetch_row($amountq); $amount = $amountq["cnt"]; $db->query(sprintf("DELETE FROM `events` WHERE `evSAVED` = '0' AND `evUSER`='%d'", abs($userid))); echo sprintf("All %s events you had were deleted. ", number_format($amount)); echo '> Back '; exit($h->endpage()); } else if ($_GET['action'] == "save" && is_numeric($_GET['id']) && is_boolean($_GET['id'])) { $Select = $db->query(sprintf("UPDATE `events` SET `evSAVED` = unix_timestamp() WHERE `evID`='%d'", $_GET['save'])); echo 'We have saved your event and will not be deleted (unless removed manually). '; } echo '<h3 style="text-decoration: underline;">Your Last 15 Events</h3> These Are Your Last 15 Unsaved Events. > View Your Saved Events > Delete All Your Events <table border="1" width="85%" class="table" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"> <tr style="text-align:center;"> <th width="25%">Time</th> <th width="60%">Event</th> <th width="20%">Saved</th> <th width="15%">Links</th> </tr>'; $GetInfo = $db->query(sprintf("SELECT * FROM `events` WHERE `evUSER`='%u' ORDER BY `evTIME` DESC LIMIT 15", abs($userid))); if (!$db->num_rows($GetInfo)) { echo '<td colspan="3" style="text-align: center;">You dont have any new events.</td>'; } else { while($r = $db->fetch_row($GetInfo)) { echo ' <tr> <td>'; echo sprintf("%s %s", date('F j Y, g:i:s a', $r['evTIME']), (!$r['evREAD']) ? ' New!' : FALSE); echo ' </td> <td>'; echo sprintf("%s", stripslashes($r['evTEXT'])); echo ' </td> <td>'; if(empty($r['evSAVED'])) { echo 'Not Saved'; } else { echo 'Saved at '.sprintf("%s", date('F j Y, g:i:s a', $r['evTIME'])); } echo '</td> <td style="text-align:center;">'; echo sprintf("Delete ", abs($r['evID'])); echo sprintf("Save", abs($r['evID'])); echo ' </td> </tr>'; } } echo '</table>'; if ($ir['new_events'] > 0) { mysql_query("UPDATE `events` SET `evREAD` = '1' WHERE `evUSER` = '$userid' UNION UPDATE `users` SET `new_events` = '0' WHERE `userid` = '$userid' LIMIT 1;"); } $h->endpage(); ?>
22. Re: [mccodes] Pay To Click Addon [$20]   Not quite, if you don't place ads all over, and well, make donators not seeing them... probably this is just a way for people to donate more, just for not seeing the ads :) You sound as if users have a contract with the "game". They're free to leave if they don't feel any better to other games, common sense.
23. Re: Looking To Purchase Completed Titles Whats your allocated budget? Where are you based? How will payment be transferred? Will both parties be secured during the transfer? How will you make contact with a potential seller? These are required, will make your request more accurate for those interested.
24. Re: [sHOWCASE] Avalon   Hey. I'm pretty bored, so I might aswell throw in my two cents. It appears to look like a really nicely developed game, but your genre of game isn't appealing to where you are promoting it (in this instance, CE) - so it would require you to begin paid promotion on a really targetted campaign. About your site: great look, but if you want to make it even better, use professional text (to be specific, "if something isnt working mail info at worldofavalon.net") which sounds cheesy. Just make a contact form, or a link saying "Click here if you are persisting issues.". I know I am sounding incredibly cheesy, but in actual fact, little things like these do make that extra potential user want to register/play. Your game can never become perfect, but it can become great and successful by showing effort and principles. I'm impressed by the design, very appealing for the audience you are aiming at. Excellent.
25. Re: Hacked :( The bottom line that you should learn from this, don't rely on Dabomstew's code. He's developed that, what, 5-6 years ago (when I first visited CE), and it's completely out of date. Little coded modifications does not secure of other parts of the engine, and from what I've recently rechecked, it doesn't have any elements from PHP 4.x+ included (and we're going on PHP 6 soon!) so it's going to have bugs as it hasn't been updated. As PHP gets more weaker, they release new versions. Otherwise they'd just had made one stable version and rely on all these 'libraries' to do the job. MCcodes V2 is just a clone from it's predecessor, except with more customization and fancy code lines to make you think you've got more value for your money. If you'd rather buy MCcodes than vBulletin, then your mentality is somehow corrupt (as vBulletin has everything MCcodes doesn't - value). People respect vBulletin for it's regular updates for the script, which just makes people "want" to pay them because they want to support them. It's just plain stupid how people are still playing with this code. I'm sure in this time you'd had learnt that coding your own engine is definately the right solution every time. If you don't get it perfect first time, don't sweat it - just take bits out of other codes and see how you go. That's how I learnt.
