You might run into some errors with just changing the the config. I'm not 100% how mcc works anymore. But if it uses a lib for mysql/i_* then what kyle said should work. If not you could always just make a simple mysqli lib yourself :)

Sniko has a mod like this. He also posted it up for free (it was paid). You should check it out and see how he did it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind you editing his code aslong as he got some credits! :)

What your asking for is sort of counter productive... Setting the value for each level is very hard/time consuming. If you don't mind me saying, I recommend just getting a rank module and tack it onto the level system, then hide the EXP values from the normal level system and show just ranks
