True. Just how many people are disgusted with and dissatisified that they bought Redux or MCCODES in general and would seek a refund if things were not fixed yesterday? A poll anyone. I would be willing to bet just about everyone except those directly profitting from it.
-
Not worth the headache of filing with PayPal although a complaint or two online in places other than this forum might occur if things don't change. Nope, I will play with mccodes and basically use it for what they should advertise it as: A learning tool for PHP by teaching you what not to do when programming.
-
Yes, last night after realizing their patched files did more harm than good I was a little irritable and make a few posts about it. I pretty much figured a refund would be out of the question but my point was to show dissatifaction with their product, thier customer service and their lack of professionalism. When I submitted trouble tickets I would hear nothing from CB or anyone else until after I posted here in the forum and someone other than them suggested or posted fixes. What this said to me was "we suckered you into buying this and after taking your money we will watch here as you and others test, discuss and post fixes and then we will take those fixes and apply them after enough complaints and trouble tickets are submitted. We will not test or work to create fixes ourselves. We will build upon lessons learned and apply all this to our new V3 which is currently in development. Have you heard about it yet?". So in short, yes, I am pretty much done submitting trouble tickets until mccodes comes out and says they want V2.53+ working and are committed to making sure it works by doing the work themselves. If they want Beta testers I am more than happy to help but they have a long ways to go before I am convinced they do anything other than remain silent until they see fixes here on the forums and then they take those fixes and say "See?! We fixed it!".
-
Ummm, maybe you should be doing this now with V2.53+ and get that engine tested out and working before beginning work and advertising for V3? It could and would do a couple things for you: 1. It would probably get you more sales of V3 later because I for one know I will not buy V3 no matter how much you hype it if V2.53+ that I paid for never fully works. 2. You will earn credability which lends to point 1. 3. Is it really that hard to do? I mean, put off V3 and focus on your current version and get it working. I know I would help Beta test it and I'm sure others would as well .. we have been already. Get a fully functional and well tested product out before you talk about taking more money for another version of the same. It's as simple as suspending sales of V2.53+ and getting it fully tested out and fixed. Start a Bug Tracker for it and go from there. There are enough of us who purchased it and have it up and running *that which is working, anyhow* that it can get tested out. I'm starting to sound redundant so there you have it.

My point is simply .. advertise it for what it is. Period. Yes, I admit that I am learning a great deal about PHP because of mccodes. Mainly how not to code. However, mccodes is not listed as a non-functional game engine to be used as a training aid. It is listed as a fully functional basic game engine with functional game features all listed and implied to be working out-of-the-box. So you get people like me who were looking for a basic game engine that we could build upon .. not Alpha test for someone else to gain profit from. Its great to get credit for finding and reporting bugs but last time I checked I didn't have to pay to Beta or Alpha test games I played. So I guess if they had a disclaimer stating that this is the case and that you are actually paying for your education it wouldn't leave such a taste in the mouth. No, Organized Crimes didn't work in the previous v2 either.
-
Noticed pretty much the same issues as stated above in original post.
-
Well, I installed the patched version and ... its still broken and possibly broke a few other things. 1. Organized Crimes should just be removed all together since it is seriously untested and not working at all. 2. Cannot add members into a gang because when you go to accept their application you get : our Gang - The N00blets QUERY ERROR: Unknown column 'userid = 4' in 'where clause' Query was UPDATE `users` SET `gang` = 1,`daysingang` = 0 WHERE `userid = 4 Please report this to a admin as soon as possible. 3. Property (your House) is blank on the Home page but shows on your profile. 4. Travel Agent all the cities disappeared so you cannot travel anywhere. They show up in the Staff panel, though. 5. Well, Im sure there is more wrong with the Gangs section but cannot really test since members cannot be added. 6. There are a lot more issues I noticed .. a lot of which were pointed out in another thread by rulerofzu and others so I can verify those as well. I am thinking about going back to v2.0.3 or maybe just forgetting the whole thing and asking for a refund. C# is sounding like a better option and it wouldn't take too long to redesign a similar engine that actually works. I have only been looking at mccodes for a few months now and I am just tiring of all the hassles. There should be a disclaimer on their products stating: You are purchasing an untested and non-working piece of software and you will have to spend a lot of time fixing and modifying it yourself to have even a basic game. This does not and will not work out-of-the-box but we will continue drag you along while we talk about our next version .. version 3.0. Well, I don't even think I will bother with submitting any more trouble tickets since the fixes were taken from this forum and took a week to get a reply for and they still don't work. Well the ones rulerofzu wrote and posted work 8^) The Organized Crimes is a mess.

Yes, I have to admit that Redux had/has issues but they are being fixed and I am looking forward to installing them tonight and testing them out. I don't have a game per say but I do have a group of friends who help me play with and test this engine and so far it has worked out letting CB know what we find and they have been getting them fixed. Thanks for the patch!
-
Well I feel like the thorn in CB's side right now since I have been sending troubletickets left and right but as long as things get fixed I won't feel bad about it. Fixing the code for ourselves does not help others who purchase the engine and that was my main motivation to constantly ask for updates and status. I will do a fresh re-install tonight and patch it up and continue testing it. As stated many times before .. Redux obviously wasn't tested before it was put out but at least they are correcting issues as they are pointed out.
-
The gang crimes work now. I just have to redo the form layouts since I prefer up and down instead of all over but its functional and working so great job and many thanks Paul!!
-
All working now .. Now adding Paul's gang crime mod. Thanks! Weird .. after you attack someone a few times you stop getting experience for them .. by design I hope and not another bug .. to prevent farming players I suppose?
-
In my eyes the 30 day support will begin once I have a game engine that performs as advertised. That's the way it should be and they should be doing all they can to get it working before they continue to make sales.
-
Then why can't they simply take a moment to let me or someone else know they fixed them?! LOL, amazing. Well, as long as they are being fixed. I am getting mine fixed and A LOT is because of you and Zu and some others on this forum and for that a huge KUDOS! I just have an ethical issue with someone receiving money for a product that doesn't deliver and I submit all the trouble tickets and eventually post here when I get no reply from mccodes just in the hopes that future buyers of Redux don't repeat what I have had to do 8^) I should be home tonight and I will apply all you guys have posted in this thread and test it out. Thanks!
-
CB has been the one that has contacted me a couple times about getting these fixed. My main concern and point is that they get fixed and released as a working engine and not one that will need to be fixed by those purchasing it. Apparently that has never been the case with any version of mccodes? Hopefully I will get home tonight and take a look at these problems closer and maybe I can better explain the issues to mccodes .. maybe that's the problem .. I don't explain with enough information and details for them to realize whats wrong? Oh wait, but you guys get it so......
-
Greatly appreciated! Thanks Paul for all the work you have been putting into Redux as well. Hopefully the out-of-box version becomes usable soon so I can focus on moving forward with my learning project 8^)
-
No, they didn't test properly at all. I have submited and re-submitted numerous trouble tickets since it came out. The first couple were fixed and seem to be working but there are numerous more I am still waiting on to be corrected. I would fix them myself or hire someone to but I feel mccodes should fix them properly or stop selling Redux until they can provide what they promise to their customers. Last Monday I was told 24 hours but I am learning 24 hours to me is different than 24 hours to mccodes. Probably needed to be posted in a different thread but here are a few of the issues still pending: 1. Gang Crimes is missing .. Obviously 8^) 2. Attacking someone causes you to lose all experience and you get a running away message. Great intention to prevent players from just x'ing out of their browser but it isn't working as intended. 3. Cannot USE consumable items at all. Hard to have drinks if you cannot drink them. 4. Job Promotions cause a Query Error and don't work. 5. Forums are a mess. Only admins can add new topics and such. Very low limit on post character lengths. There are probably more but I stopped testing until these are corrected.

Sorry Zu, I didn't get a chance to look over your code. Thanks to both of you for working on it and posting it here and hopefully I will get a chance to go through it this weekend when I get home.
-
Thanks! I figured it was missing and just a dead link. I will get this added and try it out.

Does anyone know how to create the organised crimes in the version 2.5.1 engine? I see it as an option in Gangs but I cannot find anywhere in the staff panel to create the crimes for it. I can create player crimes for one player but there is no options for making a crime an organised crime and the drop down in the gang panel is empty. A guide for this game engine would be nice 8^) Or a wiki or something LOL. Thanks!

I just created an account and logged in to check it out. I assume its in beta testing mode so the point is to find bugs and offer suggestions. Most of what I noticed in the short time playing has already been said but I think you have a great start going. As far as advertising .. do most of you with games posting here not do any advertising at all? I have played mccode games in the past like Immortal Night and they have just as much advertising as this game has and their game seems successful. Now I do know they don't show any of the advertising for Donators though so maybe that's the way they get away with it? From what I noticed on this game I had to scroll down to see the advertising so for me it wasn't a real issue. Although I would put the top ad banner on the side maybe? I just noticed it LOL. Does advertising even pay that much to be worth it at all? Overall a nice start 8^)
-
I have this problem still. It does remove all the experience, too. So if you had 50% experience and winning a fight gives 5% exp. then after winning the fight you have 5% total experience and a message by the Home button saying you lost all your experience for running away from the fight.
-
I apologize if I sounded impatient or unreasonable. I guess I was just looking for some assurances that it was being worked on and not falling on deaf ears. I am glad to see someone is working to fix the little issues as they come up 8^) Thanks Again!
-
Nice! Thanks! Replied to the trouble tickets as well.
-
Some more trouble tickets submitted and still waiting for a reply to the first ones. So far issues I have found are: The crimes fatal error, Invalid Item ID errors when trying to use an item other than a weapon, Shop Description just copies the Shop name so the description field is invalid, cannot edit the default city unless you change it in the MySQL database and I'm sure there will be more but I am working on fixing the current found issues first before I find more. I'm not relying on the so-called support since a no reply in 4 days is not in my opinion good support at all. A simple "we are aware of your issues and are working to find fixes" would suffice just so I know they are active and not just taking money. By the time they do answer my 30 days will have expired 8^)

Unfortunately I purchased version 2.0.3 a couple months ago and I played with it but never bothered developing it much because of all the hype for Redux and the going on and on about how it would be out soon. I figured I was better off waiting and then developing the new version. Now I look at it like I wasted a couple of months that could have been used developing a game from version 2.0.3. Hopefully they fix some of these issues but I won't hold my breath.
