So this illegal game using Ravan Script is active and has a player base? My question then is if Ravan Script is a complete rip off of mccodes can he simply purchase a valid license of mccodes and then continue to use his current engine? Seems it should satisfy all parties involved as long as any reference to Ravan Script in the engine itself is edited to reflect mccodes.

The books are even better! Older thread I know but just noticed and now after the series has played through I couldn't resist commenting 8^)

What? Again you missed it and if you cannot read please refrain from acting like you know anything. Being selective about quotes makes you look foolish. As I said, I moved on when I realized this engine was not what was advertised and they were slow to do anything about it. I asked CB for a refund to see how long it would take to get a response and then I posted that response here and .. BOOM! .. they are actively trying to fix it and began posting. I did not actually go to PayPal or my bank and I knew the answer to my request ahead of time .. I will spell it out for you plain and simple .. might even use crayon for you: I asked for a refund so I could make this post in order to get a response and some action from the MCCODE staff so that maybe for once they could provide a better product and start listening to the community that supports and pays them. It will actually help them in the long run. I could care less about 140 USD as it is a write off and a learning experience.

Again, missed my point and intent. I love that word noob .. always comes from arrogant @ssholes who think they are all that and a bag of chips.Usually you find they live in the basement with their parents 8^) Name calling sux huh? Anyhow .. I requested a refund with the knowledge that I would not get one but that mentioning it here on the forum would get the very reaction it has .. mccodes is active and working to make thier product actually work to what they advertise. Seems to get results when mentioning the previous bugs and errors did little to nothing. Now if the newest and fixed version is up for download on the client site then I will upload it and play with it and report to Paul through PMs as he requested if I find anything. If I find it to be fixed and working I will be the first to come on here and say .. Great Job! I doubt I will be using it though since I have already moved on but I am willing to help them fix it if it still needs it.

Are these fixes that are posted updated on the current redux download in the client section? I see a lot of posts claiming fixed in a few places here and I am willing to re-load the engine to my server again and test but I wanted to make sure the client section was being updated as I have not seen a patch or new version yet. Thanks!

I think the issue with the Report a Player is that: 1. It doesn't work, at least didn't when I tried it on V2.3 and Redux 2. It is a link in the default engine so it's not an addon or a mod. If it is not suppose to be a feature of the default engine it should not have a link coded into it. The issue with notepad is that by default it is blank but if a player types anything into it they can no longer leave it blank. They have to leave at least a . or something in it. Minor issue, yes but it does get reported as a bug by players so it should be fixed. I had a couple people testing my mccodes engine when I first thought I would use it and they reported it several times as an issue.

Coming from someone who has a site dedicated to selling mods for mccodes for profit .. not a bias response at all. I can't repeat myself enough .. well I guess I can .. the 140 USD is not that much, agreed. Paying someone to fix it or taking the time to fix it myself probably not that much, either .. allowing someone to falsely advertise a product for a decade and force their customers to pay others on this and other forums to fix something advertised as out-of-the-box ready I cannot accept. It's the principle of the thing. Suck it up and learn how to fix it? Hmmm, maybe CB and his staff can do the same 8^) Besides, you are all missing my point .. I agree that 100 USD or even 140 USD is not much for what you get from mccodes. It takes a lot of time to start a project from scratch and its worth it to me to pay a little for the start. My point is there are a lot of people who have bought this because it is advertised as an OUT-OF-THE-BOX game. They should apply the same description they do for thier free version and sell the extra features working or not as the difference. Really I could care less about a refund .. I stated it to get CB's attention on this forum and it worked. Never seen him so active as I did yesterday and hopefully it will remain that way because then there will be progress for once. I get the impression there are some on this forum who don't want to see it fixed ...

I had the same problem with my host and after converting to timestamps I have had no issues with crons. Timestamps are actually better in the long run anyhow and even if a host supports the one and five minute crons the timestamps are better in my opinion.

@Curt - so you bought Redux and have a game working out-of-the-box with it without any coding of your own? Just curious. Anyhow, hopefully my post has CB working towards listening to his customer base and trying to fix things in a timely manner all the while posting regularly so we know things are being worked on. I know it got him actively postiung today 8^) I will be the first to post and advertise positive feedback if Redux gets completed in a timely manner without the need for more rants and complaints on forums. Unfortunaltely I have no desire to use it as a game engine anymore but if it gets working I am sure I can find something to do with it. Hopefully domains can be switched 8^)

Oh wow, I didnt even notice til now that his post doesn't have the "edited" on it. Yeah, he removed all of our responses to it and then changed his original to cover it up. In answer to CB I simply said I will whine all I want on as many forums as I can find with MCCODE as a subject because my 140 USD entitles me to. All his responses did was motivate me more to warn his potential customers about his products, customer service and business ethics. I should have added the "or lack there of" to it.

The entire bit where CB told us all to stop whining and our responses to it. Promtped this PM from CB: Administrator -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join Date:Jun 2006 Location:New Zealand Posts:212 Apologies Hi, My apology for breaching the business ethics on one post made by me on a thread on makewebgames.io forum. I mean no damages and offenses to anyone. It was a simple minor rage. It would be MCCodes and my honor to help you with any troubles you are having. Thank you, ColdBlooded.

Yep, I just noticed how my posts were deleted as well. Well, from now on I will copy and paste screenshots of all the posts I make and just resubmit them. I take back the nice PM you sent me now that I see this. Again, business ethics.
-
Well, maybe so but at least you are now actively posting here on the forum and we are not sitting here wondering if anything is being fixed.
-
Okay, I guess all of these requests for addon is really a nice way of saying "POORLY CODED and SEMI-FUNCTIONAL" because anyone who doesn't want to deal with their player base pointing out stuff will have to fix these addon requests themselves.

You get this response: Dear Mike, Unfortunately we do not process refunds. We provide the service we say we will provide exactly, henceforth we even take an extra step in providing further services than we say we would. If you could identify all the issues you are having with your purchase, we will definitely fix it within a reasonable time. However, PayPal dispute resolution center will not process your refund either. We look forward to hearing from you and hope we to fix all your issues within no time. We work towards the feedback our clients provides as we cannot detect all the issues with the software. Regards, MCCodes. I have since moved on to another game engine and once I have a full refund I will pull down my mccodes site. All I have seen so far is you wait for the forum community to fix your product for you and I do not have the time to go that route and wait any longer. You do not post frequent updates and because of this I do not have confidence that v2.5 will ever work properly any time soon. Thank you and I will be contacting PayPal if I do not hear from you soon. Sincerely, Mike So basically his response is "Bug Test it for us and we will fix it in a timely manner". Okay, so I will load this back up and fully patch it and then bug test it and I will submit EVERY bug, error and broken or missing piece I can find and we will see how fast they fix them. And since PayPal has a very strict policy about businesses and NO-Refund policies we will see how long MCCODES has an account with them after I add this email to the dispute I started with PayPal. I like how he didn't admit in the email that Redux doesn't work as advertised 8^) IT DOESN'T!!!

Well, my point and reason for complaining or making points against mccodes is the fact that when I buy something I expect it to be what was advertised. The problem with mccodes and their business model is people like you who come on here and accept that the code is untested and non-working and don't question it in public. You then criticize those of us who do speak up and who refuse to fix it for them. "Use your brain". I could fix it or like many I could pay someone to fix it for me. Why should I have to if it's ready to go out-of-the-box? Because it isn't. Notice how there is never a response from CB here on the forum to any of mine or the others' posts against mccodes? He cannot defend his product and yet he continues to accept people buying it. Well, I and many others have come to the conclusion that CB and crew are waiting for their customers to test and fix their code for them so maybe they are the ones who do not know PHP? Yep, I even got credit for finding the first set of many bugs in their first "patch". Yep, they took the fixes straight off the forum and posted them as fixed. Yep, one of those fixes did not work. It's those of you who don't complain that are the problem. Apparently this has been going on for sometime and now they talk about V3 when none of their other versions work? I personally cannot understand why it has gone on so long. Just simply change the product description to something other than working and I would shut up and accept mccodes as a start rather than a ready to go script. It invites many non-programmers into thinking they can have a game without knowing how to code and I call that a SCAM. I know quite a few successful games out there whose owners are not programmers. They hire programmers and they manage the game, not develop it. I have limited knowledge of PHP but I can program in C#, CSS and HTML so PHP would not be that far out of reach. However, mccodes looks to be good if you want to learn how not to code PHP and as such I find it worthless since it does not work as advertised.

Like I said, I would not go that route but I can see the appeal if Ravan Scripts are bug free and you are a customer who was suckered into buying mccodes and are stuck with a broken game enghine.
-
But they are not fixing anything .. they are waiting for the customers to find and fix the engine for them. I am complaining .. yes .. I can admit that because I paid 140 USD for an engine that i was told worked and it is far from working. It is not the responsibility of paying customers to take a product and test and fix it for those making the profits. From the way it sounds CB and crew have been getting away with this business model for some time and now are finding resistance. The reason it is still full of errors is because most of us have stopped posting the errors and the fixes. I have seen CB browsing this forum but he never posts, never gives updates and never looks to be testing anything. I hear from him only after someone else posts a fix and he takes it. Upload your game script .. populate it with test data and thoroughly test it out .. I assure you it will not take long to find a number of errors. It's not the job of the customer to do the labor. That's like taking a car into a shop for repairs and paying for the repairs but doing the diagnostics and work yourself. It's rediculous. As far as other people should be reporting the bugs .. We were reporting them and nothing was done until rulerofzu and Paul posted fixes to what I reported here on the forum because I didnt get so much as a reply from my troubleticket til after I posted here. Then more bugs were reported and they still stand unresolved. Oh I'm sure they appreciate it A Lot .. I would too if others were doing my work for me for free.
-
Hmm, not saying I would buy it but considering I and quite a few others have purchased a broken mccodes engine there is a certain appeal to purchase code such as this if the bugs have been worked out and everything. Even if it is not a legal licensed copy of mccodes I hold a legal licensed copy so.... Hmmm, maybe going and buying one of the pirated versions of mccodes isn't a bad idea if it works and is bug free 8^)
-
Well after a fresh install of the newest patched version of Redux I can say it still has a lot of bugs and non-functioning pieces. I am not going to post those latest issues simply because I think the ones making money off of the sales should take a look at their own product, test it and fix it themselves. Selfish me I guess but what I have seen is we post the problems, helpful and knowledgeable members of this forum fix them and post the fixes and then CB or the mccode staff take those fixes from here and post them as fixed without first even testing the posted fixes. We hear nothing from CB for a week at a time and not until someone else posts a fix and then all the sudden its "sorry we didn't get back to you earlier because things have been busy but here is your patch." So, I am not hopeful that any version of mccodes will ever work out-of-the-box with the exception of their MonoCountry game. Surprisingly that works quite well.

I could help with testing 8^)
-
I know what I would like to see in V3 .. V2.5 or even V2.3 working first 8^)
-
I will once I get it re-installed and can have a few friends help me bug test it. I just haven't had time this week...

Their non-refundable policy is about as enforcable as a used car salesman having the same policy after selling you a car and saying it works great as advertised but you find out after buying it that it doesn't start. They also say you don't own the code but only a license to use their code .. but honestly is there one single game out there that they can claim is purely mccode out-of-the-box? There can't be. So what portion of the code do the ones who fix it with time and money own?
-
This fits me as well. I have repeated that message over and over in all my posts here. I have pointed out errors and bugs but have found there are so many I cannot believe they still have it for sale on their website. I guess I would like one of two outcomes .. quickly and completely test and fix the software or refund the money and take it off your site as for sale. Soon one of the two will be done.
