I also started out on a free host...with nothing at all invested toward my game except for my time.... Since you are developing a game simply as a hobby and you dont want any kind of donations, then a free host would be your best choice...otherwise your hobby will cost you money out your own pocket. However if your game does gain a good amount of active players, the free host will push you buy paid hosting i believe. I will admit a free host is a turn off for many gamers but its mainly the quality and how interesting the game actually is that keeps players around... so since this is merely a hobby for you...you should be ok on a free host... Also if you end up using mccodes, there is a mod in the forums where you can get rid of Cron Jobs all together ;) Have fun with your hobby :D

Ah thanks guys :) I have emailed him and gotten a response the next day ;) He says he has moved passed mccodes and is developing applications for things like the iphone and Android :P

I was interested in purchasing some of his modifications but i see he hasn't been on the forums in a few months.... Has anyone bought any mods from him recently ?.. I dont want to wait months for a mod to be delivered to me after I purchase it...lol thanks guys :)

What is the average price range? ($3-$50)On my game players can donate a maximum of 50$ at a time to as little as 1$. Why did you choose these prices?I chose these prices because they seemed appropriate at the time. What currency is the default for users to purchase donator packs?Currently only method of donation is with USD currency and by using Paypal but I plan on expanding this. Is your donator packs based as items or simply click and buyI created a "Credit System" for my game. So a player can donate 10$ and they will receive 10 Credits. The credits can then be spent on donator packs which are credited instantly or they can be sold/sent to other players. So far the credit system has been doing well and players seem to be enjoying it :) Do your donators top everything in the Hall Of Fame, or can non-donators do equally as well?In my first game one of the top 3 players have never donated one cent :)

just taking a wild guess at your problem but did you make the missions table in your database ?....lol

hmm...first off I would suggest getting a very basic code editor as notepad sucks. See how all the code is on one line...thats the effect of the notepad i believe... I use a small program called PHP Editor 2.22..its free...i would suggest getting it or something similar... as for your error on line 17 ?...how can we know what line 17 is...lol

hmm maybe check the startroom.php too ? and convert that to v2 aswell ? as for the errors...i personally cant be of any more help with out actually seeing the code...but maybe someone else can..lol good luck :)

do you get this error on every page ? if so check your config.php file and make sure the info is correct.

This reminds me of Slave Hack as well...i played that game for a while but everyone is out to scam you and its part of the game so i quit...lol nice concept and good luck with your project :)

Thanks for the reply :) Well i looked at my PHP.ini on my VPS and i believe the error display is already activated.. Heres some of the error settings.. error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE display_errors = On also i added error_reporting(E_ALL); in the top of my header and I get Undefined variable error when the variables are clearly defined :cursing:   this is one issue I dont understand at all :(

I created a feature for my new game where players can complete tasks and earn points and money. This feature also serves as basic tutorial as it shows players the basics of the game. I am having a problem... In my 2 years of PHP development I only bought one book and this was very early on when I became interested in PHP. The book i bought was PHP & MYSQL for Dummies 2nd edition. I will admit if you are brand new to PHP and MYSQL then this book will help you, but if you already have a little experience then this book doesnt help much. This book is geared toward brand new PHP and MYSQL developers, so if you have a basic knowledge of these two things then I would pass this book up.... Also you can learn all you need from the Internet for free...it just takes some research :P Hope this helps :)

Hmm about moving the table to the left.... Im not very skilled in CSS( I am learning though) but could you not simply put margin-left: 10px; into the table style ?.. find out your table style name and simply search for it in your css file...a lot quicker than looking through the entire file.. sorry if it dont work...lol also you should make your questions a bit more clear if you would like help..   I have no idea what you mean but I am guessing you are talking about the header ?...

Hey, Thanks :) I also did a small amount of work for the game before I went in partners with the owner and eventually bought the game out full. The previous owner is a cool guy and I talk to him often :) The old script was completely scrapped though so you wont see any of your work on the new game :(

Thanks for the comments guys :) I understand what your saying about the layout. Hopefully the players wont find it too bad...lol Im working now to create some features different from Thug Battle because I used that game for a base to create this game.. One thing I came up with is a Tutorial/task Guide..this allows players to follow a list of tasks that will teach them the basics of the game such as training in the gym and committing a crime...i plan to make this a big feature of the game substituting it for an achievement guide as well...such as 1000 Crimes succeeded..or 1000 attacks won.. Players get a reward depending on the task completed.. I believe this feature might help keep new players that have never played these types of games and shows a little interest in it...lol ill open it for beta in a few days..

I purchased a second mccode based game a couple months ago and been working on it on the side to get it ready to be opened. I am working to make this game a bit more difficult than my previous game. I also created a new feature that serves as a tutorial for new to text based game players and also should be enjoyable for others aswell :) The new game is Bushidobattle.com I am not ready for release yet but i will open it up soon so it can be previewed.
