BioHazard is correct, because I have seen the same template used on other games, not just those 2 you posted. And sometimes people like the same work, and they are inspired that way. If I clone a website and change the color, it's because I love the design, and motivated/inspired by the look. A lot of developers do that, look how many times torn.com has been cloned.

It is licensed under the GNU General Public License Version 2. Which Grant can not withdraw the license, because the public already has the right to use the engine, it is violating the license agreement, and also there is a link to report it, when it has been violated.
-
GRPG by Publius was given under an Open Source License to the public, Grant can not now start selling it, he would be violating the Open Source copyright laws. And this is the part that this forum is not understanding!! And trying to tell others that they NEED to buy a license. The license was NEVER for sell Publius gave the engine under an Open Source License, and than disabled the link 2 years after, when he no longer supported the engine. So if others feel the need to violate the Open Source copyright law, go ahead, but when I happen to ever use my original copy with Open Source License that was given I will NOT buy a License now just because Grant owns the website or the scripts. Just because there is a new owner does not mean that they can start selling a product that has been given under an Open Source License. That is what I am trying to state! He can make another Version of the engine though and sell it, but he can NOT sell the one that Publius gave out freely!
-
For one yard/garage sales is not a business, craigslist is not a business either, Ebay is a business and they carry a license for others to use their website to sell their items legit, they also have a business License!! So yes when you have a BUSINESS it is everyone's BUSINESS to see your Business license! And NO If I got a product for free he can not force a LICENSE on a product that has been already released to the public for free with an Open Source License, unless he has changed the whole product to another Version I know the LAW where I reside, I am not stupid like people wants people to be on the internet... I think you sir need to read your copyrights on Open Source and what copyrights they have given up!
-
Actually when Publius owned it, he never sold it, and it was free, I have the original copy of it from way back, and I couldn't care a less if Grant owns it now, if I was given the download link from Publius back than for free, and if I ever decide to use the engine now, I am NOT buying a license from Grant, when it was Free to use, he would have to really prove that he changed the engine, or have the legitimacy ownership of it through the Business Office, or have a business license to sell such product online. Thus is why Publius NEVER sold it, and gave it freely...Also his(Publius) link to the engine was disabled after he no longer supported it.

That is why I stated I would not use them, only for testing purposes lol Here is what I have investigated there is 3jelly, 5 jelly main host is http://www.guhat.com/index.php , if you click their plan it redirects to 5jelly.com the owner lives in Egypt his name is Ahmed Galal, but the server for 5jelly and 3 jelly are in Salt Lake City,Utah.... He also has 17 more websites on hosting, which I dunno why someone would want that many lol... I doubt they will be all up from a year from now, that is why I would take complete cautions using the service, and not depend on it for your website...Also the support forum page is not coded still uses default text... IMO the hosting is only good for testing, and blogging... Kind of reminds me of the guy awhile back years ago trying to give free hosting something teeth was his username, anyways after 3 months he shutdown his hosting and everyone was screwed that paid and also had free accounts on his hosting...
-
Actually I investigated this hosting, because I was skeptic about it, I could NOT find any bad review on it, and the company has been in business, what I have found since June of 2013. Me personally, would not trust a new business, I usually go with businesses that are at least 5 years old, or much older depending on that business. I signed up for their VPS on this host to try it out, so far it's ok and fast..... It is FREE, no hidden costs. You have to start out with the Free plan with NO referrals, when you have 10 referrals sign up for a free account you than can upgrade to the next plan, but it does state those accounts have to be active... There is actually NO hidden cost in the referral plans either... They maybe doing this FREE hosting to get future customers when they roll out their website fully, because they have only been in business for 1 year, their support page is not even finished, or other pages on there.... I am still skeptical putting a website on there though, but it is a good hosting for testing, and what not...

He is using X10PREMIUM.COM X10hosting has been experiencing major problems in the last 3 weeks, on the premium and free hosting. You can read many submit tickets on their forums. I am sure he may not even know anything about it giving that message as for he is no longer working on it... But just saying the info I know, because I use x10hosting for testing others sites, and they been having problems with all their hosting packages, and account suspends messages has been coming up in their forum from premium users.

I do not trust go daddy, if your just looking up to see if a domain exists and not buying it, they log it, than you come back days later (after you decided it was the best fit for your website) and enter in same domain name and it states it's not available and directs you to buy it for triple the amount if not more than it was the day you typed it in. I only noticed this on Go Daddy only. Other registrars I tried did not do this... Wondered if anyone on here have tried this with go daddy lol. Unless someone had the same damn idea I did for a domain name at the exact moment, which I highly doubt. I think they log what you type in and if you do not purchase it in a time frame than they pass the logged info to a third party whom buys domain names that people type in, knowing they may be able to sell them for higher, because people have typed them in and they know someone would want them. I know it sounds a bit strange but that is what I thought of it when it happened to me.

Thank you both for the replies, I heard a lot of good things with Digital Ocean!

Just wondering what others thought... Would it be wiser to host your own website, other than going with a hosting company? What would be the pros and cons? I turned my desktop into a server the other day, but it's just temporary for testing, I am just wondering if it's worth investing in an actual server and running it yourself, or is it better to just have a commercial hosting company host your websites?
-
I know what he means, he deleted the domain on hosting side,the records that direct the domain to host, he needs to add it back, you can have your hosting do it for you if you do not know how, so contact them! This has happened to me before, but I went in and added them back myself.

When someone sells their game on here, and you do not like the look of it,or had NO intentions in wanting it in the first place, why even post in the thread?! It's not up to you to decide if a person is to buy the game, it's their own business rather the game got their attention or not, everyone has their own preference when buying something they want, Ben made numerous threads also that stated that he had not done much to it, and was still working on it, which now he can't because of his real life priorities. Which is another thing that is not anyone's business is his personal life. So sick of people on here questioning others personal life, if I was Ben, I would've asked, "would you like to know when the last time I crap too!?!!" All a buyer needs to know is the information on the game, not that of the persons personal life!!

Maybe they can't get rid of him permanently, there are numerous of ways to bypass a ban on any website, thus is why the ban is not permanent because they rather have him have one account instead of hundreds... This was stated awhile back, when they had to get rid of another user, the only way to get rid of such user, is to IGNORE them and don't feed into what they post, because that is what they are seeking, after awhile they get tired of it and leave on their own.

That is fine lol... He did not want validation because he did not post all his code on here, he only posted that snippet, and he had only asked for that part to validate if the user existed in the database so I posted a snippet, which he already had before looking at my post... But anyways everyone has a preference in coding... I would have validated the POST variable as if(empty($_POST['xferu']) || !is_numeric($_POST['xferu'])) {echo ' Error, you did not submit the right input';} than checked if the user existed in the database while securing the POST in query with intval()... Try telling me someone can hack that!! That is simple PHP validation and it works 100% effectively the same way as your sanitizers...
-
Why go through all that hassle to get a valid user from the database, when all he had to do is SELECT it than made an if statement? I meant that he can not just call a variable as it is, that is not relating to anything database wise and expect it to scan for a valid user in his database....This is what he had global $db,$ir,$c,$userid; $_GET['userid'] = abs((int) $_GET['userid']); $_GET['xferu'] = abs((int) $_GET['xferu']); $_POST['xferu'] = abs((int) $_POST['xferu']); $_POST['money'] = abs((int) $_POST['money']); $xferuser = $_POST['xferu']; if($_POST['xferu'] < 1) { print " This user doesn't exist! <a href=\"bank.php\">< Inapoi la Transferuri Bancare</a> </div> <div><img src='images/generalinfo_btm.jpg' alt='' /></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> "; Also in your example you did EXACTLY what I did but made it if(!$db->num_rows($select)) { instead of if($r['userid']==0){ .... as for the other he could have also used empty() and !is_numeric() as for it was a number for his form to validate it...
-
I don't know your script is all over the place... I would not use switches.. You can use If($_GET['action']==Withdraw){WITHDRAW STUFF} else If($_GET['action']==Deposit){DEPOSIT STUFF} else If($_GET['action']==Transfer){TRANSFER STUFF} else { HTML YOU WANT TO SHOW WHEN USER CLICKS ON PAGE. }
-
You can not do such like that your using... if($_POST['xferu'] < 1) { echo 'This user doesn\'t exist!'; } above that you got a $_GET variable that is $_POST['xferu'] you need to select the user in a query such: $q=$db->query("SELECT userid FROM users WHERE userid='{$_POST['xferu']}'"); $r=$db->fetch_row($q); than if($r['userid']==0){echo 'invalid user'';}

Actually, they don't give free mods, that they create away, but on their website, they do have lists after lists of FREE mods that this community has given away for FREE... they are already giving us this FREE forum to use, and the FREE mccode Lite engine.!! Can't complain...
-
If you are a beginner in coding, than use mccodes, it's a good learning engine, because it also challenges people to LEARN because of the errors in it, but I think they have fixed them, I do not know, I personally do not use it, I started from scratch from a generic login, after I mastered that, than I moved on to adding things into it. I also did a lot of research that took me time in learning. But if your not a beginner... For a complete nice engine I would use a_bertrand engine (NWE), because it's cleaner coding over all, and easy also to use.
-
I doubt Ben is lying, he is actually VERY trust worthy, more than I can say for others on here! He is selling his mccode engine, and license, and the mods he bought,which are a few, I would not base this buy just on appearance of what he did graphic wise, because you don't buy a game, and leave everything the same anyways.

This can be removed, I found a solution to this, that works the same!!! http://blog.doh.ms/2008/02/12/adding-text-to-images-in-real-time-with-php/ @Sniko, I have tried full path to it, I found 1 picture that allowed me to use it, but it was a blank white one, when I altered it, it than did not read the pic no longer for some reason. I used photoshop and paint and the end stayed png. Unless the code does not read pictures but only blank ones.
-
test.png is valid though on server, but imagecreatefrompng is saying other wise. That is my problem.
-
That is what it is stating, but no on my server it is valid, but imagecreatefrompng() is stating it's invalid I changed the pics several times to different one and it still threw the error, I also path it from the direct path http://www.mydomain.com/test.png and nothing.
