Well... I would say much more planning, and even asking the people who you believe would be running the project if they want to be involved could help gain more support. Pick something (I would suggest it needs to be open source so others that contribute would gain something) to create, plan out the features, and ask for community volunteers.

Myspace still has a massive user base. Nothing next to Facebook, but putting your site on both is not a waste of time (or pointless).
-
No, I don't believe users can change names. Now as for your name you may wish to pick a new one as people will confuse you with an older account (http://makewebgames.io/member.php/54500-Zero-Affect). On a side note - Do you really need an all caps name...
-
You're saying "game", but I ask you; Why would anyone put time into developing a game they get nothing out of? That is what it seems you're asking people to do... Unless I am misunderstanding, and you mean the will release the source rather then run it as a site?
-
This maybe true, however people are not going to contribute for those who are not even willing to make themselves known. All you have said is "lets work together on something"... Ok, but what? Something open source like Zap engine was an attempt at? An online game as this suggests - Why would I spend time on something that gains me nothing, but others gain profit out of? I may as well spend the time producing mods for already used engines. At least the source would be something to show potential clients. We at least need an idea of the project...

That's not a completely fair comment. We have been giving warnings out to some individuals (I believe I have given about 4 out just this week). The problem is a lot of the time it's done in private over matters that are clearly public. In you're case said user (you know who I mean) gained a warning, and it's the only major warning I have needed to give out for a while. If you wish to make all account warnings public then honestly I would not mind, but right now I feel formal warnings over some issues are dealt with via private messaging by default, and it's the best way to do it... Even if in some cases the thing they are warned over is public. I won't comment on Danny's post.

I find this funny. Did you not claim to own it before? In any case don't make pointless childish threats about hacking someone's site. Thread locked...
-
Well... does your dad have any examples?
-
Of course. Just seemed the way you posted it could have been... better worded? In any case I am not saying you're lying.
-
Something tells me you just killed your chances. Also lucky that was a little uncalled for.
-
And the point of bumping the thread was?
-
Missing a doctype, head, title... Sure it would work, but valid on a page like that would not hurt. Edit - What was said above.
-
So create something. What do you mean "you just finished w3schools" ?
-
My guess was work on the website, and maybe having him deal with the advertising/management of the site.
-
Yes this is true, however both IP's changed over time. In any case due to some of the content of this users posts he is now banned, therefore i see little point in keeping this thread open.
-
First off I would ask to see some examples?
-
Read back the posts he has done on here. Honestly I would do a lot more research into him before giving over any sum of money... or if it's leading to a larger project pay for a $10 mod as an example. If you do this never expect to get anything since it would only be a test. ;)

With all due respect, that is mainly due to how inactive you have been. Yes this is a development forum. MAKEwebgames kind of gears towards a certain kind of person. I assume some play games as well, but honestly asking for out right volunteers before the site is open is not often the way to find reliable staff members. As I said, what keeps them active once the games picks up? volunteers that are already plays is always a good way to go in my opinion. :) This is why I find things like " optimized code" in the selling point of a game funny. Now don't get me wrong, of course the site needs to be fast when I load a page, but I will not notice if you use echo over print, what I will notice is if your staff have no respect for members or if the features of a site are dull, and frankly the same as every other game. Now in your case I doubt this is a problem since your not going the "I have mccodes now lets add mods" route, but surely you see my point? If I take an amazing game, and leave it there with no one running it, and nothing advertising it... It will fail all the same as something poorly put together.

Without know anything about the site... I have no idea. You could have the long one as the main name, and then the shorter one just redirect it for the lazy people?

How man queries are too many?
Dominion replied to runthis's topic in MySQL, Oracle, Postgress or other DB
To be honest it's not just your queries you should be worrying about as it's one part of it, you should time the execution of your scripts to see if they are slow for any reason. Of course there is no set bench mark for this (that I really follow anyway), but if something like a query or a loop is 90% of the load time it's then fairly easy to see that's what you should be looking into to. You can also have a read over this - http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/38020-Code-profiling -
Who is your host?
-
There was no confusion. He is asking for volunteers in this thread, and you're asking about his business plan? No one would willing send out a plan before the site is even released, and more then likely not even then. Please stop asking in this thread.
-
I don't see why telling us how you're making staff rewards fair will impact anything. In any case it's your choice. As I said before, no one would do this just to gain volunteers.

Why not? No one would upload a plan they have worked on, and are currently follow because they want volunteers to help out.
