Selling www.webgamefavorites.com. I have had sufficient time to develop the infrastructure, but due to new job related responsibilities, I don't have the time for the business development. So I've decided to take offers from potential buyers who would treat my baby well. Site comes with: - topsites system - banner exchange - news section - forums Getting around 300 UV daily. Income is currently mainly through google.

Could I have a link to the press release or something please? I think if EA joins the market, it means the market is maturing. Is this good, or bad? I see benefits, and I see downsides. The downside is that the kids who wanna have create their own game to make some money will have it hard, as the level of competition has jumped up severely. Most kids start using scripts they found, but some progress. For those, it is a bad thing. For the player, obviously, it's good news, as more quality is what they need. For the guys around here, I think it is bad, for the simple reason that when EA launches a game, they can throw a lot of money into the marketing. Most of you guys can't do that. So it is to be expected that EA will grab a HUGE share of the revenues in this market, at your cost.

Wow, that sure is a high price to pay for someone who registers, and logs in once....perhaps it's time to use cheaper ways of promotion?

Interesting replies. From the replies, I gather that you guys feel that there are two kind of game-owners. The little kids who are insecure, and think brute force will get things their way, and game-owners with some maturity and brains. And I also notice the little-kid type seems to be not replying.

In this thread, I would like to ask you guys a question, well, actually two. But before reaching that point, I will give a little info on how I started to wonder about this. So bear with me, the question IS coming. In case you are too lazy to read, just scroll down to the bolded part. As you guys know by now, I have started a website, and I want more people to register their games on it, and put the voting code on their sites. Well, you could sit, and wait. But that's not gonna work, so I put in a bit of effort. Now, my favorite approach would be to have a chat with each and every game owner on the web, but since that is impossible, I want to go with the secondbest approach: email. In this approach, the best way of doing things, in my view anyway, is to first check out whether the game actually matches with my site. Then you have the possibility to write a semi-personal email. But, many game owners do not leave any email adress on their site. I won't go deeper into the legal factors this may have, I did that in another thread. Yet, it is important to mention, because it is this absence of an email adresses what made me go for the third best approach: signing up on the game, and then sending the admins an ingame message. It takes a bit of extra time to actually FIND the admins in some games, but it's worth it (it actually made me discover two new games which have a good chance of "hooking" me. But what happens: when you send the admin a message with an URL in it, many games (MCC code, quite often) auto-fed you. For a simple URL! ANY URL. I mean, it's not like I am going to your game trying to steal away your players, right? Yet, I get banned for an URL. Of course, I understand why they do it: you don't want some dude who just started a game to come to yours, spamming all the players about how the game they play is so much worse than that new, really great, game that they are advertising. I totally understand that. But, why so harsh? What if people want to tell eachother about their own blog in which they describe their daily adventures while working at Mcdonalds? And, the question which really boggles my mind: why so severe? Why take measures to stop advertising of other games, while the player can find them at the next mouseclick anyway? Why take measures which hurt a lot of sincere, bona fide, people, just to stop a few spammers? Especially since most game-owners are also present in some forum where game-owners discuss how to improve their game? How do you see eachother? Collegues, or clear competitors? To boil it down, the questions: - Why crack down on IGM's in a way that does not only stop spammers, but also hurts those of good faith (badly) - How do you see other game owners on communities like this?

I have been working to approach game owners to point out that the webgamefavorites.com voting system has gone live this week. During my work for this, I have noticed something: many owners do not leave any contact info at their site. No msn, no skype, no chat... not even the basic email adress. Yes, I know, if you leave an adress, you are bound to get emails (wow, no shit, einstein?). And we all know emails are annoying, because they take your time, right? Wrong. You should always leave an email adres at the public (not logged in) bit of your site. This, for a number of reasons: 1) EU legislation states that any website selling any services or goods (yes, a DP is a sold service) MUST have contact info on the site. Actually, the legislation states you must leave a number of ways of getting into contact with the site owner. I reckon email is the easiest one. Both for you, as for the one getting in touch. 2) By not having an email contact, you are basically telling your members, your clients to sod off. They may join, they may send you money, but they should not get any weird ideas, such as trying to send you a mail expressing their gratitude for such a great product ;) 3) You appear less professional. Yes, I know, this is a hobby. You own a game for fun. Just like I own webgamefavorites.com for fun. But that doesn't mean we can't try to at least APPEAR to be somewhat professional, right? 4) You may be missing out on cooperative opportunities. I am persistant, so if I want to invite you to cooperate, I will find a way to get my message to you, but some other people may just move on, and make their offer to someone else. Just imagine... Bill Gates wanting to pay you a gazzillion dollars, just to put "This site is best viewed with Internet Explorer 8.0" on the front page... and he cannot find you... what a waste ;D But seriously, I reckon the first point should actually be enough reason already. But, my players will spam me or or people will spam me appealing bans sure, that will happen. Just make sure you write down somewhere that anything game related should be dealt with in-game, by the assigned staff, and that any mail regarding in game will result in a three day ban (or fedjail, or dungeon, or whatever it is called in your game). It will happen a few times, and you will fed a few times. Word will spread, and people will stop doing it. :) And you don't even have to check the mail every hour :)

We could use a little help with webgamefavorites.com Sadly, no hourly rate can be offered. You will be paid a (more than fair) share of the revenues of the first year "live". If you are a game-owner, I am sure we could offer some valuable services to you as well.

Hi all, we at webgamefavorites.com now invite all game-owners to register their game(s) on http://webmasters.webgamefavorites.com. If you have more than one game, please create on account and put them all in this one account. In the future, we will be adding some paid services, and if this time comes, discounts for larger orders will be available (and these discounts will be calculated on the level of accounts, not games... so putting more games in one accounts = bigger chance at discounts). When registered, enter the info requested, and chuck the code provided on your site, because (yes) a voting module is of course part of the website. Advertising positions are now also available.

Re: Free Game advertising.... Game Promote! You can also sign up on my little project WGF via the Webmaster part and get in the rankings. In the future, we will install more promotional tools for you to get your game out there.

Re: Vote here, get daily bonuses confirmation? You could simply have the link lead to a page on your site, which then instantly redirects to the voting site. On your own page, put some code to add the reward to the user, and voila, done. For webgamefavorites.com, that is the way to do it. For now, that is, as at some point, we are planning to provide an automated system for you. (Might take a while though)

Re: Looking for TOPSITES that use daily votes www.webgamefavorites.com New, still being developed, but the voting system is fully functional, so you can start collecting HoF positions :) Daily votes, monthly winners.

Re: Tips to owning a game Nice guide. However, I must agree with those saying that admins should not play the game. No matter how fair you play it, it will always lead to players thinking the admins don't play fair.
