gamble Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Im wondering if i should have the classic big amounts of cash like in most games or the real world currency...Examples are as follows: Big amounts: The classic start out with 150$ or so and items cost like 75$ for the cheapest one like on torn or any other mmorpg Real Life: Start out with 20.00$ and items like a hammer or so cost 2.75$ then tax will be taken at a set amount for example 6cents for every dollar Please vote and give why i should do what you voted below! Seker Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Honestly, I think players like seeing the big amounts. It's meant to be fantasy. It's not supposed to be like the everyday scraping to get by. Personally, for my game, I've scaled prices and rewards somewhere in the middle. You're still going to get more than a few bucks, but you're not going to get tens of thousands for the simplest crime. lucky3809 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) remember bigger the amount the less advantage to the game, if everything is given out in large amounts all at once there is no growth for anything which will leave a player leaving the game once all goals are done... Balance your cash out.. torn is a good example how cash should be in a game. You do not want one player holding onto billions in their banking or in their hand.. You want to make that billion harder to get, by balancing it. I have seen a couple games where I could collect 1 billion within 2 days, leaving me with no goals, because i could buy all the things in that game with the billions i had in the bank...That game was running for 2 years then was abandon by all the players, and there was over 10k players active. That scenario is easily avoidable. If you want high cash payouts, you also need high prices. As long as it's all relative, there should never really be a problem with too much sitting around. Quote
