a_bertrand Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 You must make the difference between 2 kind of optimizations: - Meta / title and other tricks to either improve your ranking or to improve the quality of the results (like showing an extract of your content) - Backlinks to your site to improve your ranking. The second is what really counts to be found in the first results or to improve the "importance" of your site. Yet, SEO tricks are basically to link your site on tons of honeypot sites to try to improve your ranking. Google tend to ban those site and ban the sites pointed from those honeypot. So personally I would avoid this altogether. What you can do, is to make sure your site is reviewed, talked inside forums, and linked from listing like dmoz. But avoid those SEO companies. I don't trust any. Quote
