Jordan Palmer Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Hi all, So I thought I'd start off a discussion which I've at the moment not seen on MWG, This is all about game owners or previous game owners, All I want you to do is answer the questions below. hopefully one day this thread will help someone :) . What is the average price range? ($3-$50) Why did you choose these prices? What currency is the default for users to purchase donator packs? Is your donator packs based as items or simply click and buy A few questions more is about Mobile donating so please only answer this if you have a mobile donation system or used one. Which micropayment system did you use? further more why did you use these? What system do you use? ( I've seen alot ie a simple text code or w/e) Has this paid of well? In terms of users liking it and donations from it? All this information is pretty much helpful to current and new game owners as if they have donation packs priced to highly they could be running there game into the ground, However if they are offering to much for to little they could be killing there game, Thanks in advance  Quote
rulerofzu Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 On rulerofzu.com I use a custom donator system which acts like a shopping cart and supports bogo's and purchasing for other players. What can be purchased varies. Packs can be just days, money, crystals and/or items. I use paypal and 2checkout as the processors. As for micro mobile payments I find them to be more hassle than its worth. Ive used two and removed them as they often take too much and also have been known to change their system as they have clauses where if a transaction fails you do not get the funds and they keep it. One system I used kept changing their internal system so that transactions would fail. Not funny. Prices and transaction amounts I am not going to go into. Each game should be ran to what you believe its worth not what others think, charge on their game and believe is the right amount. If done correctly then your game will be a success. Currency is dollars due the expected player market base judged as USA. However my EU/UK players enjoy a good exchange rate! Quote
Danny696 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I also have a question, do your donators top everything in the Hall Of Fame, or can non-donators do equally as well? Quote
Rasheed saeed Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Well depending on the economy in the game, it can be anything. But while I play CW(ChaoticWars(High)) this was the prices. £5 - £10 - £20 - £40 It's around average for a game. Loads of stuff was in the donator packs. Not just money & crystals. I used: Paypal - OneBip - DayoPay(I think*) Anyway you got decent stuff the game games economy, so if MD is in the Millions, half the prices down. Also I would suggesting sometimes a special pack for the seasons. So winter? Quote
rulerofzu Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 @ Danny high players are a mixture of those that spend and those that dont due to the other incentives that are available. Quote
Jordan Palmer Posted December 18, 2010 Author Posted December 18, 2010 Thanks for all replies. @Rasheed - This isnt about MD, it's in general.. Quote
DeaTH_RideR Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 lets see here....on my last game deathndestruction.com i had dp prices from $3 to $100. lots of different items went into the packs. why ? i figured the players would like more to choose from. that taught me something (many players that could not donate didn't like that donators had more of an advantage over them) Currency USD paypal @Danny my hof was both donators and non donators. DP as an item for sure. there is always someone that cant donate and someone that will buy and sell there packs for in game money. Quote
Curt Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 What is the average price range? ($3-$50)On my game players can donate a maximum of 50$ at a time to as little as 1$. Why did you choose these prices?I chose these prices because they seemed appropriate at the time. What currency is the default for users to purchase donator packs?Currently only method of donation is with USD currency and by using Paypal but I plan on expanding this. Is your donator packs based as items or simply click and buyI created a "Credit System" for my game. So a player can donate 10$ and they will receive 10 Credits. The credits can then be spent on donator packs which are credited instantly or they can be sold/sent to other players. So far the credit system has been doing well and players seem to be enjoying it :) Do your donators top everything in the Hall Of Fame, or can non-donators do equally as well?In my first game one of the top 3 players have never donated one cent :) Quote
