SirChick Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Hello, My game has been out of BETA for a month now and i would love some feedback on it. I just finished the multiplayer feature of the game, which took me a while to make from scratch as i was not happy with the original one i had. The game is not an easy one, i've got lots of economic stabalising formulas to make sure inflation does not run wild or fall. It took me some time to get a "slow but steady" money flow whilst keeping the game reasonably challenging where you have work for it to get something. I got quite a bit more work to do on user stuff like a trade system, but most of the game is running smooth now. Members counts are not great but it is new to public from BETA. So yeah feedback is welcome. Website: http://www.civilianuniverse.com Quote
a_bertrand Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 While registering: Notice: Undefined index: gamenr in /home/civilian/public_html/empire/registration.php on line 49 and impossible to create an account. So not a good start. Quote
SirChick Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Oops, yeah i just made a new registration page. Made a silly typo! Have fixed it now ! Sorry for that :) Thanks for alerting it to me. Quote
a_bertrand Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Ok I created a demo account: Username: testme Password: demo (as it is not possible to have the same username and password). - I don't like to login just after registering. While not enter directly? - I don't like to be forced to click on the vote while login in. - The look is under par. - I don't see the story under. - User interfaces like for the training are not... really user friendly. Beside that I like the change of context from a normal "mafia" game. Quote
SirChick Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Your not forced to vote ??? There is no directional story on the basics of the game, they are all character building stuff. The story becomes clear at level 10 when you finally leave the town to explore. What don't you like about the training - what do you suggest i change it to? And the login - should take you straight in, i will look into that. EDIT: Fixed the login thing. (as it is not possible to have the same username and password). EDIT: i misread.. yes password cannot be same as username/game name for hacking reasons..makes it harder for people to guess. Thanks. Quote
Djkanna Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 It's different I'll give you that, I also like the fact it's not just another Mafia game. Not too sure about the landing page once logged in (selection.php) but I'm guess this is for when you get more games within your network. I don't really like the layout however it's better than some I've seen recently, also there is too much going on. Upon first login into the game I have a chat at one side and a user in chat at the other side, which in my opinion should be at the players discretion to have open or not. Like A_betrand said, there is no story for when you first start which means to me until I reach level 10 as you said I'm stuck clicking and nothing else. Training isn't really user friendly I have to type the amounts I wish to train, so I'd suggest having pick-able options, then maybe an 'other' selection if what we want to train isn't there in the predetermined selections. All in all you have a nice game it just needs a little work. Quote
SirChick Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Hi, I have removed the auto join chat room upon login (although the game setting allows you to turn such a thing off) i have changed that to start off instead of on. Thinking of changing that in general anyway. Yes the landing page is due to the exact reason you mentioned for more games - can't think of any other way to do it for now. And with the story , i will talk to staff about that. Regarding the gym, im some what confused by how it would be for selection + other.. can you show a basic training page example of what you referring to so i might get a better understanding? Thanks Quote
Djkanna Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 First of all forgive me poor design skills :D Give them some options, rather than making them type (but also give them that.) Quote
SirChick Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 Hmm not a bad idea! I will do a test layout and see how it goes with user's opinions! Thanks for the feedback everyone :) Quote
SirChick Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 May i ask how easy you found to just sign in and understand how to play.. i get alot of people joining and never returning - driving me nuts cos i don't know why. Quote
a_bertrand Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 They don't come back because as we told you, your game doesn't explain anything, no story, nothing. And yet, it is very similar to any other McCode game (even if a lot of work shows that you have something a bit different). So if you want to keep players you really need to shine once you log in. SirChick Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 I understand that - and my team are working on some kind of introductionary story. How ever the issue, is i want to avoid people logging into a big block of text with the story, as the tutorial is already rather lengthy (5 paragraphs). How did you get the story awareness without it being too much text upon login as im trying to avoid people being put off. I should note my site is written from blank... no prepaid engine. Quote
a_bertrand Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Well, you can introduce a story in a lot of different ways, like discussions with somebody which give you tasks etc... Quote
lucky3809 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Hello, I signed up for your game awhile back was given the link from one of your staffs, I never returned due, because the layout color is hard on my eyes and makes it confusing to read, main menu looks like its all over the place lol. Town Center is very confusing, as an example when in dire need of help if you were a victim of a murderer it's like finding a phone that has no numbers and not being able to dial out, thats the feeling i get when i go to the Town Center maybe where you have Royal Family you change it to Royal Staff, and so forth so it doesnt look complicated I dont know rather i clicked on a link or not due the names dont match up to the page or items...One thing also after I had logged in I didnt even know it was a game until I clicked the mailbox option, your login should direct to your main index, or home page with the main menu so players can tell it is a game...
