Has (edited) another game shut down your site?
BrowserGamesFactory replied to Lilith's topic in General
Also Terry aka UCC is or has been a member of CE/MWG and has the same free resources as you have to develop a game, mccode is very generic in game development and modules/free mods. -
Has (edited) another game shut down your site?

He has no ground to stand on, just MWG is good enough as source to show the 100s of free modifications available under the GNU GPL If he attacks your game any game that has been released earlier than his can attack his with exactly the same remarks. -

Is this a joke ? -
as a update the movie kickstarter project reached CNN http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/web/11/29/kickstarter.gaiman.biggest/index.html Such exposure is already super and pretty sure that the lil bit of funding will be worth it.

Several people seem to have lack of imagination to create themed modifications. With christmas closing in, here are some ideas you as mod writer could work out for the mccode community. 1. Advent Calender Concept: Each day a player can scratch a door (scratch card system) and a random prize is under the door. (js/php/mysql or a flash/actionscript/xml/mysql) examples: http://mrdjk.com/md/scratch/ by B-Com Team member Djkanna Use an ajax request to another script to send the item to the user and your sorted ... 2. Christmas Tree Concept: Part 1: Jobs drop extra items randomly that can be used to decorate a christmas tree. (js/php/mysql , gamequery could be usefull here) Certain combinations of added items could give a perm/temp stat bonus. Part 2: After christmas , the trees get often burned, so players could burn there tree for a award based on the amount of eg explosives used as decoration.... If anyone has more ideas surrounding christmas themed mod development , feel free to ad to this thread.

CETWG is still up for sale if there is a good offer and is a unique script written from scratch.

Explain better .... I agree that vB has a large community and loads of modifications as themes, but it gets killed by the massive resource usage. vB isn't made to be used on shared servers imo , well it will work fine if you only have a 500 users but a forum like MWG would eat up all server resources.

Ok following the MWG response we will use SMF, why not XenForo I'm personally still watching from the sideline ... engine is pretty new still and as it's from the former lead dev of vBulletin afraid that it will be a massive resource hog. I am somehow surprised that vBulletin is the big loser in this poll. Our community boards will be named B-Com B-Com is short for BrowserGamesFactory Community - A creative community for browser game developers and artists Board categories will be BGF Station, general discussion folders regarding BGF Services Game art, several folders, including tutorials, etc Employment, folders related to jobs (paid/unpaid) at browser games Challenges, a example was posted on MWG titled Fight of the titans where we all used the same object. Programming, this will not be dedicated to certain game engines, see it from a broader perspective but again related to browser game development (posts asking for help eg mccode related will be deleted)

Can you provide some screenshots. -
@nickson XenForo , I'm afraid that it will be a resource hog as vB is but that's purely my assumption due to the fact it's made by the former lead dev of vB.

As we are getting close to the launch of some BrowserGamesFactory sections we would like to have some input on what forum engine to use. Also give some input why you like forum engine A more than forum engine B. This from a users/visitors viewpoint not as a forum admin/mod.

Feedback requested (InfantryX New Layout)
BrowserGamesFactory replied to Dave's topic in Art and Content
My first impression is that it's a scifi game in the style of starcraft, not the same but your illustrator might have gotten inspiration from there... Or maybe closer, the characters style of the UFO series of games. Anyway as it's a game in development process, none of knows if the theme of the game will still be the same. Could aswell be a near future military game. -
This old topic might be valuable, no clue if all links there still work Game Advertising - breakdown -

looks like you are explaining it wrong I think .... mixing up local, with local storage and not server space Anyway a avatar thingy that could be usefull is gravatar for instance which would update a user avatar over 100s of websites, yet forced to use gravatar http://gravatar.com http://en.gravatar.com/site/implement/images/php/ -
Or big brother Autodesk Maya, $3500 however student licenses are like 30% of the officiall retail value for autodesk products.

Well George made some lose threats regarding this topic. He said he would sue me and a few other members of MWG in this thread using the Defamation: Libel and Slander act from Canadian law. Sadly he didn't read the fineprints.... In a December 2009 case, the Supreme Court of Canada established this new defence to a libel claim. The court said that journalists should be able to report statements and allegations – even if they are not true – if there’s a public interest in distributing the information to a wide audience. This defense, which looks at the whole context of a situation, can apply if: * the news was urgent, serious, and of public importance, and * the journalist used reliable sources, and tried to get and report the other side of the story. The court defined “journalist” widely to include bloggers and anyone else “publishing material of public interest in any medium.”

Create a usergroup eg 'Helpers' Create a forum folder where new members can post a topic and reply on their own topic solely (function exists at wbb), nobody else can reply unless they have the 'Helpers usergroup' priveledges. The 'Helpers' usergroup are the sole members able to post also on the topics posted in that forum folder. Now the 'Helpers Usergroup' , you could make this a private usergroup (you select who gets in), a open usergroup where any member could subscribe, or a invite only usergroup (existing members of the group are able to invite others into it)
