Using AI tools in your game

Hi

I am curious to know what people's opinions are in using AI in games.  

 

My opinion:  AI is a tool which is here to stay.  Like your IDE, your monitor, your mouse and your Photoshop paint program -- these are also all tools.  If we didn't use these tools, how can we make anything?

I see AI as a tool, not a crutch or a cheat.

Its using in certain areas, to make a whole game, and use the base ChatGPT theme it throws out, its shows no effort. AI being overused to it being the base theme is just lazy and little effort put into it. AI is terrible at coding, it creates flaws and doesn't do a good job generally and needs constant checking. It removes stuff.
I use it only to get a little help, but nothing big.

Absolutely, all great arguments.  But like anything it is a tool.  An IDE is a tool.  If I used notepad for my IDE my end product may end up being crappy and it would take me longer to code.  That end product the customer will see and my product may not sell as well.    So if people use AI poorly they get a bad outcome.  If AI is a complementary tool you get a better outcome because you still need to code.

Having a whole theme that looks like a chatgpt generated doesn't give me any hopes that the rest isn't AI generated. To me it shows little effort into a theme. When the theme should be a big part of what's going on. You can make a whole game but use an AI theme on top just puts most people off compared to just using the AI for the whole thing. 

The last few games I've seen posted here have 100% AI generated theme which is just big red flags for me and stops me from entering them game.

Here is an example of what I mean. This was made using AI in an hour. Works well but you can tell it's AI which is why I wouldn't release it.

Don't get me wrong. AI can be useful but it's best for helping than doing the work

I also made this using AI. Tho needs alot of work on me to sort its bugs out.
