GL v2 Sessions

Hi, I am new to the forums, I installed GL v2 - 2.5.1 and paid for the premium modules etc. 

Can anyone point me in the right direction for what sessions it uses and how it sets the session. I have my own login and register code i wish to use which is not a module but just wondering how to set the relevant sessions. I wish to disable the register and login modules and use my own.

So far i have found: $_SESSION['userID']; but is there any others that it needs? or point me to the files that will show me how they are set?
