Redeye Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Hey Guys, Here is a bit of a general question, but what direction would you like to see Text-Based games go in the future? My opinion of the current crop is that the market is a bit too saturated with Mafia-style games. Space-based ones aren't as aplenty, but still widespread. Where does that leave Text-Based games to go? -Redeye Quote
KyleMassacre Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Myself, im over the "mafia-style" so im currently planning a little something different like the underworld rising up and trying to conquer earth Quote
Djkanna Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 (edited) Post-apocalyptic games are rising up in the form of text-based games now, there's been a huge jump in popularity. Mafia games still take the lead, because no matter how much we hate them here, a lot of people still want to play mafia-styled games. So as long as there is still people wanting to play, more mafia games will be born. Additonal, my latest gaming project, takes on the form of a pre-apocalypse/fighting an apocalypse. I blame, Joss Whedon, for my love of this whole monsters from hell stuff. :p Edited May 30, 2012 by Djkanna Quote
Guest Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Space age and things are boring, what kid would rather go to space than kill hookers and commit crimes? It is the 21st century after all... As to what direction I want it to go in well carry on with Mafia style. Quote

As to what direction I want it to go in well carry on with Mafia style. All games get boring after a month or so, thats why you gotta have a hook that runs alomg side the story line that will keep it interesting for a while. Take my project for instance, now this just may be my point of view on the idea but I think its really cool. I dont know if any of you have played Fable for Xbox but my idea is similar. I am going to have a few classes and depending on the actions you perform whether it be crimes, attacking certain classes, etc., that will determine your outcome in the game. Depending on what class you are may just limit you to certain things in the game for example but not limited to: gangs, items, and cites. I dont want to give exact details to everything yet because its still a work in progress. Some things are being/going to be rewritten, some small modifications to existing scripts, so on and so forth. Quote
