Galahad Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'm thinking about developing a game using the lite engine and building on that but I'm wondering what actually needs securing on it? I know it has exploits but i dont know what them exploits are so i cannot prevent them. Quote
Paul Evans Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I believe a member of mwg did a securer version of lite but i don't know exactly how secure it is, ill take a look when i get my computer back up and running for ya :D but personally i'd suggest maybe going for a paid version the free version isn't that well done. Dominion Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Nor are the paid ones available for download well done. The “patch” is not yet available. I would look at Danny's or even better look into Ezrpg/zap engine. Quote
Paul Evans Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 ah good point dom, EZrpg is available for free zeggy worked very hard on that and ZAP is open source but i don't think people have put much into that yet either way anyone of the two are quite easy to build on but don't have the community MC does. If you have prior PHP knowledge i would suggest EZrpg/ZAP but if i recall you did say you didn't have much PHP knowledge and not many freelancers on here will work in engines they are not sure of so support for either of them may be a little hard to fine. (maybe easier for ez as zeggy is on here most of the time) Good luck with your choice. Quote
Dominion Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 What you say about support is sadly true. Some people on here, that actively post, would (I believe) give support for any engine. Ezrpg has it's own site with a forum that has mods etc that were never posted on mwg. Not sure how active it is, but worth a look. As for the original question it's the same kind of stuff you would need to fix on any mcc version (less of it since it's a smaller amount of code). Takes going through it, and checking a fair amount. On top of that you also have licensing issues involving copyleft. I will see about finding the post that explains it. Edit – Have a look at this topic, and some of the issues. Mccodes LITE VERSION..what if i... Quote

It's a shame because i love how Zap Engine is set out Quote

If you go with mccodes have a lot of money ready to pay people for mods otherwise you will end up with "yet another mccodes game". Quote

True, but it will cost more to get MCCodes fixed than paying someone to make a attack system(along other things) onto that engine. Quote
Dominion Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Yes, and no. If this patch is any good it would negate that issue. I would wait for that. As for it being cheaper for another engine for mwg that is true, however many people put the price up on engines that don't have the same support simply due to the limited options someone with no php knowledge would have. a_bertrand Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Currently I'm simply overloaded, otherwise I could try to quickly create an attacking system, as I doubt you want something very complex. Also, Zap doesn't have much as people didn't show much interest in it... Quote

Say if i paid someone to build a attack engine that works with weapons and armour. How much would you think it will cost? Quote
Dominion Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 It will take more then an attack system to get zap engine ready to be used as a full game. With no php/mysql knowledge any path you take will mean paying out money. The difference between using mcc or zap/ezrpg has already been pointed out. As for the question it depends who makes it...
