Does 'nice URL's' really matter?

Ok, just wondering do you really this 'nice URL's' matter.

e.g. http://www.domain.com/nice/url/page

I mean; sure developers notice it, but do game players notice it? And does it even matter?

I think it matters. You can use .htaccess rewrite mod.

Those are actually called SEO friendly URL's are are useful for search engines,

they make no difference on games as search engines do not index ingame pages as it cant access them

this is only useful for like forums/Blogs ect...

Because it is needed to boost traffic.

I know how to write a .htaccess file and what it does etc.

no unless you want to "attempt" to try to impress your users but most players are inexperienced with php / asp / html ect...

so they wont really care or be able to tell the difference.

It only matters if you reply on getting a lot of traffic "its called SEO optimization"

but only matter if you have a site which rely's on traffic i.e. forum/blog

Honestly I'd prefer to see:

http://www.domain.tld/blah/profiles/user/id/1

Rather than

http://www.domain.tld/blah.php?profiles=user&id=1

An example was a project I worked on quite sometime ago (a url shortening service),

It was much easer to see:

32kj4 - a random code

than:

index.php?code=32kj4

So I would say it depends on what you'll be using it for.

Yes, Actually it does matter to some point.

 

Does the Users Notice it?

Answer: Very Possible

 

Why?

Maybe the user types in the URL everytime, And Per say the URL is: http://www.domain.com/folder/game/index.php

The user typing in a long URL everytime will soon get old.

 

And also, You want the URL to have something catchy.

That way the user ALWAYS remembers the game name. :)

Beside looking better, no it doesn't matter as google change its politics and doesn't give a better score to those nice url over those with all the parameters. We even checked that with this forums.
