My feelings about Make Web Games

Ok i am starting to give up on this whole site. yeah its a good site but a lot of the people on here are just plain rude they act like they have never been new to any of this some act like they woke up and was the master at coding and running a game with no help. I have had a few good people help me out and thank all of you for all the help. But some people are takingon too much for them to handle they start with 1 person and then just leave them in the middle of what they was working on and don't respond when something they added to a person game that really sucks. But what pisses me off the most is all the game hacking. Now that it has happen to me again i have no faith in anyone on this site. The people hacking games need to grow up i think you are very stupid and lucky i dont know you hackers in person i would break every finger on both your hands for everyone of us that you guys have hacked and messed up our games

Thats all i got to say just hoping i dont say the hell with this site and never return over the Holidays my game was hacked some one did a real good job doing it and i wont say my game or what they did because i will not give that loser the chance to laugh about what they done to my game

But thank you all that has helped me and not hacked me but after this last hack to my game i dont trust anyone of this site any more

Dont give up on the site. And as for hacking, secure your game :). Anyway, This site has reall good ppl. Just because someone says your a noob or whatever, just ignore them cuz thats what they did when they were newbs. lol. anyway yea dont give up on the site, screw the lames and be friends with the nice ones. Granted everyone has to start somewhere, the differance is what defines the person starting.

 

Myself for instance.

I started and had no Idea of (criminal existence) at the time. I played with the code for awhile Until i started getting sudo hang of it. Then started using google to find out more about the engine itself. I took initiative and I didnt give up when I couldnt figure something out. Just kept trying until something did work. If I wanted to learn something about a new function i would research until I found out. Then I found CE/Makewebgames and took a giant leap from where I was.

 

After all this time I see new people posting everyday for help with this or help with that, and to be 100% candid and honest I dont mind helping these new people. The problem arises here.

1. A lot of new people joining up now begging for help arent self motivated. They get an illegal copy of McCodes, They come to this forum once they realize it's not an easy thing to do and expect anyone who can code here to do their sites for free.

What they fail to realize is, there are millions of text games out there, most of which are mafia games based off McCodes engine and 90% of all these games fail within a few months.

Why? There is no originality to any of them, they all use the exact same mods, half still use the basic layout that comes with McCodes with a few font or background changes, Everyone wants to slap every free mod they find up as soon as possible totally ignoring that above ALL ELSE you should secure your site as best as possible before you even add your first mod.

 

Before i drag out and rave/rant this forums can be exceptionally helpful to any new game owner. However, if you are looking for a place for someone to do your game for you, you've come to the wrong place. If you learn anything, learn that you should never trust anyone when it comes to your game. Above everything, secure your site first. You can't expect your game to succeed and/or Make money off your site if you cant invest time OR money into it to have it secured as well as have it original.

Basic McCodes layouts with all the MWG and google'd mods with little or no Security. === Fail 10 out of 10.

Paid Layout with Paid custom mods and security = Chance of Success varying on originality and set-up.

90% of the games out are in the first category.

I am totally agreeing with Immortalthug, he states a very good point. This is a great forum for learning as a beginner, but lots of us have already gone through the beginners stage. Some of us have been treated badly on forums when we first started. That is not really the case for me, because I learned some computer languages through my High School life, and some extra-lessons. When I saw this forum during the summer of this year, when it was still called CE, I was really exited. So many had the same hobby as moi! :)

But some beginners, not saying ALL! Some, tend to think they know everything, most use illegal mccodes (like what Immortal stated) and some are very annoying, asking for free mods and templates.

Lots of use put effort in our creations, you can't just request for free what someone takes the time on. And to go into game making, unless you are extremely talented, you have a very low chance of making a good game with a budget of $0.00

That is my opinion on the matter, i think it isn't MWG's fault, it is the beginners fault (most times), because I felt very welcomed when I came here. :thumbup:

i posted this just because yes i am a noobie as its called i guess i dont think i come off as asking people to do things for me for free. I i do read a lot on here and i have learned a lot just by reading i don't ask for much when i do post for help

I just vented out for a quick min on here its just i am learning the best way i can about the game and when not knowing much and to worried about asking because there are people i think sit and wait for post by people like me just to mess up that person website.

I just hate the fact people get a kick off of looking for the new ones then messing up their game.

I considered Noob a compliment when i started out, i believed it to be them telling me i was part of the team just a new member.

If you quit then your letting them win, i hope i wasn't rude to you but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind if people can't hack it then that's their problem.

My website was hacked within the first month of making it/joining CE/MWG why? I left install.php on - we all make newbie mistakes at the beginning but won't truly learn from them until someone says "oi noob you did this" or you get hacked, i personally would prefer the embarrassment than my game suffering. If it comes to it there are many people who offer their services Not FREE obviously because we all know what they are... They'll do it for free, yeah ok...

mabey he doesnt trust thug. ive never seen his securing, so i cant say anything. But when i started, i was called a n00b, i just wanted to prove everyone wrong, and i think i can say that i have. The first thing i didnt do was make a game, because i didnt have the knowalge to secure it or make unique mods for it, and i knew it.

it was intentional due to recent "hacks" on immortal thugs work, i wouldn't recommend him due to him having enemies.

"The" recent hack you are referring to turned out to be a Cpanel cracker on the guys computer. Not to mention I hadnt even secured that site yet, not that it would have stopped a Cpanel attack from his own computer =P

Hehe I've left the Install there myself, I've also been hacked and what I've been on CE(MWG) for around a year and a half, I came to this site later than others :P

I've also been called a n00b, newb, newbie. And the funny thing is I've passed most of the people that called me n00bs and now if I felt like it I could call them n00bs.

People I know who can do security:

Eternal, Crazy T, Magictallguy, Karlos.

Really I'm not one to talk as I left this site a couple of months after I joined it's only recently that I've come back. And it's still pretty much the same people this time their not n00bs anymore their up there with the top people :P

Anyhow it's really your choice as to what you do :)

Yea. I agree with ImmortalThug on the Modifications part. No offence to anyone on this forum, or anyone who owns a game, but sometimes when i see a mod, and then i see it on 7 other games, it makes me wanna not play those games anymore. It is better to pay a professional to Make you custom Modifications that you can trust wont resell to anyone else for there game, or.. Like i did, and i am still a noob, but i am proud. What i did basically is a bought a game right? Ok. So then i searched mccodes mods on google, but who doesnt when they get a game ? lol. So eventually i made it to MWG( when it was still called CE) and i found it to be quite interesting. So over these past months, i have learned to code basically by looking at code in the mccodes basic files, to the advanced paid mods i have bought(not many). Also, i have used the php.net manual for a few functions to clear what they do up for me. What i suggest if you plan to learn coding, is everytime you learn a new function, not a mod, but a new function say.... abs() , You right it down in a text file starting with the function name, what it does, and when you understand it clearly, maybe you want to add some examples. Ive never had to use my php "journal", but i probably will eventually, and it is a great reference point when your stuck on something, and you dont wanna go around asking a bunch of people to fix it.

Everyone gets called a noob (mostly by me) it happens and it can be rather inspiring or annoying but i bet Bill Gates was called a noob at one point of his life and if not then ill ring him up later :P

I ask questions a lot i think but in the last few days i have learned a lot in them few days then in the 2 years i been working on this game
