I won't follow you on that... Even if I agree with part of the arguments in those articles I see really bad words too...

“Would you trust a Chinese gold farmer inside your computer?”

“Exactly what you would expect of a Chinese gold farmer.”

..... :cursing:

Basically I will never trust someone writing an article with such lines, no objectivy...

Behind that he could be right on many points that's another story :)

ok that's a racist remark but I believe it evolved to such lines simply due to counter actions from Evony... on a forum we would call it trolling I guess

His first posts was simply about the advertising campaigns they where doing ...

Yeah, i think the suit should just be thrown out. Journalism, press, etc. Reviews are pointless if we can only express the good qualities and get in trouble legally if we voice any bad thoughts about it.

Quoting Bruce

So the first hearing in this case is at The Supreme Court of New South Wales in Sydney on 14 December. I will not be there! The main issue for this hearing is to establish if Australia is the right jurisdiction to hear this case. Or whether it would be best held in another country. I am British and live in Coventry, England. Evony LLC, is a Delaware company from the USA. My blog is also published in the USA, on Dreamhost.

So you would wonder what we are doing hearing this case in Australia. Suing for defamation in a country that suits the prosecution like this is called libel tourism.

The company that is suing me, Evony LLC, was not formed till 22 July this year, which is after the main articles that they complain about were published. I must say that to me this comes across as very strange indeed.

Now we come to something very, very interesting. The Defamation Act 2005 in New South Wales says, in section 9, that a company can only sue for libel if : ” (b) it employs fewer than 10 persons and is not related to another corporation.”

They are saying that a game with 11 million players is run by less than 10 people.

Legally this jurisdiction question is interesting and it was examined in full on the ABC radio programme The Law Report with Damien Carrick, you can hear this or read the transcript here.

@gwink, we both seemed to misunderstand the chinese gold farmers

Taken from: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/jul/15/games-evony-spam-internet

Evony is the product of Universal Multiplayer Game Entertainment (UMGE), a developer linked to a Chinese gold-farming operation called WoWMine. That site has also come in for regular criticism, but the real kicker comes with the news that the company's owners are being sued by Microsoft over allegations of click fraud.

Evony is that game with the chicks on the ads right?

Gotta wonder why perverts play games online eh... oh crap am i going to be sued?

i rest my case: Evony Ads

Seriously i think they are a bit insane with them ads i mean who clicks them?

Old men... no money

Teenagers... no money

desperate male/females... spent all the money on star trek appeal/gadgets

On another hand i'm sure it get's rid of the "unique" people who play games...

I do have to say Evony have changed their new ads banner isn't that weird lol
