I'm making a game LIKE it, I'm not using a nulled version of Travian. It wouldn't have what I need there. I already know PHP. Yes this is what I mean.

Okay so I'm making a game like Tribal Wars/Travian, I can do most of the stuff just one thing I'm not sure where to begin! If you have played the games I'm on about you will get what I mean, the game has a 'map' this map is graphical and has coordinates and you can see the other villages on it. I'm not quite sure the best way to do this, but if you have played tribal wars, Travian of nearly any village building strategy game (including Devana) you will know what I mean. I knows Devana is open source but last time I checked it was really hard for me to read as I dog know my way around their source. Thank you guys!

What are your strongest programming language?
bloodless2010 replied to Script47's topic in Question of the day
JQuery isn't a programming language, it's a Javascript library. MySQL is a database of SQL, SQL is a query language. HTML(5) is a markup language. Javascript is 1 word (Not Java Script) CSS is a style sheets, not a programming language. MySQLi is a MySQL extension (that 'improves' it; hence the i) - and is only used in PHP, still, not a programming language. The only TRUE programming language listed in that poll would be Java. I suggest changing the thread title.. Sorry, I just had to point this out. -
Looking for a super simple (but secure) start
bloodless2010 replied to bloodless2010's topic in Other Game Engines
Just looking through your source now and I notice.. in pdo.config.php and well, you say MySQLi connect then use PDO? Why's that :p - - - Updated - - - Also, is your script secure from stuff like session hijacking/stealing? You're using the standard session_start() -
Okay so for this new project I'm working on, I'm looking for a simple engine that would be a good start (i.e secure login with sessions ect, user system already setup) just purely the basics, if anyone knows one let me know

Okay so yes I did make a thread before but that was a different thing, I'm looking for a Medieval styled template, I can't seem to find one anywhere and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find one, it doesn't need to be complicated or anything just medieval-ish, thanks!

Looking for a village building RPG style template
bloodless2010 replied to bloodless2010's topic in Layouts
I don't mean graphics, I'm looking for a template for the actual website :p I can get the graphics as I have a few friends who can make me some simple tiles -
Hey guys! I'm currently coding a game like Tribal Wars/Travian from scratch, everything else is fine just I'm not good at CSS.. I'm wondering if any of you guys know/have any RPG style templates that would suit a village building game, if you have/know one please let me know! I'm sure one of you have something I can use ! :) Thanks guys!

Not sure how to explain this (Timestamp and updating values)
bloodless2010 replied to bloodless2010's topic in PHP
I'm not quite sure how to put them all into 1 query as I'm new to SQL. Could you maybe help me? -

Anyway, is that the most efficient it can be? -

That just shows you didn't read the code I posted, let me repeat it; http://pastebin.com/YgRKWXkQ I am using prepared statements that have binded values... -

no, but I've kinda done it now :p Just took some brain fart for me to do it; Here's my current code: http://pastebin.com/0G1WChF6 How can this code be optimized? Is there any way? I'm not sure if it's the best it can be :p -

Okay, so I worked out how I'm going to do this but I'm not sure how I'm going to write this out.. I have a table in the DB of a UNIX timestamp (the last time it was updated) basically, I'll get the current timestamp and take away the time from the last update. Now I have the seconds since the last update, and I'll times that by the resources per second (which I'll work out my side) and then add it to the current resources the user has.. -

I know what AJAX is, but I don't think you understand my problem, the problem ISN'T making the value update dynamicly on the website, but it's to update the amount of resources in the database, not every minute, but every second without lag or something :/ Instead of having to wait a whole minute, for 60 logs, every second it would go up one (and still be stored in the DB) -

That would be to update live, and it would only be client side, I need it to be server side I'm not looking to make an exact copy, I want to make my OWN village stragery game that's gonna be unique ;) -
Okay, so I'm making a game like Tribal Wars/Travian, I'm currently doing the resources, the way it works is for example: '100 logs per hour' or so, I'm doing per minute, so for example '10 logs per minute' or whatever, what would be the best way to do this so that it's live? so, if it was 10 logs per minute (thats 1 log per 6 seconds) how would I make it increment every 6 seconds efficiently without doing sooo many queries (cronjobs are out of the question) I'm thinking timestamps, I could do a timestamp system so it does it every minute, but how would I do it so it is live and you don't have to wait for a whole minute. I hope I have explained this enough, but if not here is a scenario: User Z has 10 logs per minute, instead of them having to wait a whole minute for 10, it would instantly be updated +1 after 6 seconds.. but this would need to be flexible enough to any value (and instantly).. Sorry if this is confusing I really don't know how to explain this any better.

Hi, I was told that because the script changed owner that it's now free or something like that, does anyone have the download link for GRPG? I've been looking EVERYWHERE for it!

What, wrong what?

I'm looking for a rather simple engine, not like Kiddy Kartel simple, but like a decent starting point, McCodes v1 proved to be too boring for me as a lot of it is already done, I want something I can work with a lot and add features properly myself, I've looked around a lot, I would use ezRPG but I can't use the old forums and I guess I want some change, I did want to use GRPG but it is a paid copy of a script but I can't even find where to buy it. Does anyone know any decent simple engines? Thanks! Edit; I liked the look Phaos Game Engine but the DL is broken and I can't find it anywhere.

If I understood what you said correctly (I really can't read what you're writing) that there are so many legit and fake copies they shouldn't bother? So basically, in other words you could've just said There's so many murders in the world, and so many nice people, we should just leave it because we don't know which one is which. You have to do something about it.
