jaymo Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I was just wondering if there is still market or audience as big there used to be, I haven't played any text Games myself for a good number of years now except the one I built myself in 2011. I would have imagined that due to all of the latest web technologies such as html5 that users want more rich experiences than some hyperlinks being clicked to change a field I'm the database. I have clearly seen myself that in the games which I was fond of, being Mafiadeath and Mafiacrime, their daily active users has deceased from what It was, say, 3 - 4 years ago. Maybe it's due to the games in particular and the audience is still there but have moved to other games. I know that some people genuinely love text games which I understand as I myself do also love them (not as much now admittingly) who have accounts to loads of different games on the Internet, but I do feel its also getting saturated with copies of boring text games, which puts me off now. A text game can be created by using pre built code and not modified (if they choose not to) and voila! A game is born, but It puts the original games to shame who's developers may have worked hard to code from scratch. This is just a few of my thoughts and is a reflection of my own opinion. Feel free to share your thoughts on the topic :) Quote
Guest Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 There is a market, however games need to be more unique. They need to have more interactivity and be feature rich. So many games now are generic that people in my opinion just get fed up with it. Quote

Like !Angel said, they need something different about them, something which hasn't been seen yet. Quote
Mint Berry Crunch Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 There are games that have become successful over the past 2-3 years. Look at Illyriad or Supremacy1914 as examples. I think these games need to be done with a better finesse and professionalism compared to what we had 10 years ago; we have this mobile gaming/indie gaming revolution to compete with. I am honestly surprised how this whole mafia game malarkey hasn't ended already. Quote
