Aureus Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Somebody help me PLEASE! I have this concept of a game. I have everything set up. Server, domain. Plot/story line, gameplay. Everything except: CODE. GRAPHICS. :) Really need some help. It's gonna be fun, I promise. Dedicated people are needed! :) Thanks. :D Some basic info: - The game will be based on PHP (the only programming language I am confident to work with on this) and SQL. - It will need a lot of effort, especially on stuff like framework. And graphics. - The plot is EPIC. - Its setting is in outer space. - I need people willing to work for no pay. XD may change when game gets good. :D On the legal side: - I'm giving shares of the game based on work done. :) Currently looking for: (EDIT: Too much. XD Thanks a_bertrand. :) ) - 1 or more coders - 2 or more graphics designers Hobbyists welcome. :D So yeah. If anyone has more questions I'd be willing to answer. :D Please help. Thanks. :) Quote
W3Theory || Peter Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Are you giving ownership to the game or just saying they have to do it for free? How many slots do you have open for each department? Just a couple of questions you should answer. Thanks, Peter Leaman Quote
Aureus Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Thanks for the reply. :) Sorry for the LOI. It's my first time posting about asking for help. :) So yeah, I'm gonna update it, but i'll put it here too. I'm giving rights to the game (or "shares" to the game, if you will) based on the work done. It's because I'm confident in the plot, and how it may "hook" some players, being given that the plot is based on one of my stories (novel). :) A lot of my friends say that my work is above average, so i hope that'll work. :D I'm currently looking for at least 3 coders and 4 graphics designers (the concept is fairly easy, for me that is). More are welcome, though i'm not promising anything. Hobbyists are more than welcome to take part. I'm a hobbyist myself. :) a dedicated hobbyist. So yeah. If anyone has more questions I'd be willing to answer. :D Quote
DreamCoder Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Very Intresting.." have you got money to put into the project?" Quote
a_bertrand Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 3 coders and 4 artists? And you do what? Bring the story? Who manage this team (which is not small), who does the split of the work, who think about the design of the "framework" or any other code? And are you sure the project is so complex that it requires so many volunteers? If yes how do you expect to pay them, you say shares, but a 90% of 0$ is still 0... Do you have any previous work to show what you are capable of yourself? Don't take those questions badly, but it will be easier to recruit people or at least talented people if you are able to show that you can contribute in a useful way too, and to explain more in details how your offer differs from the thousand others of "I wanna a web game too". Aureus Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 3 coders and 4 artists? And you do what? Bring the story? I'm a hobbyist. A new one. :) Been coding for 2 months. XD Yes, i know that brings an OBVIOUS disadvantage. Well, i guess trust will play a big part in this project. :) I plan to make this as a past-time. I'm still studying, but I'm knowledgeable. At least. XD Look. Nothing of this is serious. Just a blind poke in the dark world of browser game development. :DD I'm looking for fellow hobbyists and developers with too much time on their hands. BGD's no monopoly, just as anything is. I'm not even planning to make money out of this (though there is a big possibility that i MIGHT). Who manage this team (which is not small), who does the split of the work, who think about the design of the "framework" or any other code?I will manage it. :DD myself. I give out tasks. :) Framework is not yet decided. I have no background of frameworks present in this forum, i'll be taking a check soon. :D And are you sure the project is so complex that it requires so many volunteers? If yes how do you expect to pay them, you say shares, but a 90% of 0$ is still 0...About that... XD i have decided that yes, IT IS TOO MUCH. Changing it in a bit. :) About the payment, these "shares" can mean anything. From game code to game itself to shares of the profit. :) I run on a free server with a free domain name (well someone paid for them of course, but not me :P) so it's virtually costless, for a reason. :) I think we all know what that is. Again, i reiterate that i am looking for hobbyists and bored developers. :DD Do you have any previous work to show what you are capable of yourself?Don't expect anything. I've coded for 2 months. XD Thanks for asking all those questions. It helped me sort things out. :) And by the way, I don't want a web game. :) I just wanna code and see my code work, just on a larger scale. :DD besides, I haven't played a single web game at all. XD Thanks again. :) For Dreamcoder, no, i have no funds at the moment. XD Quote
