Joshua Posted December 24, 2009 Author Posted December 24, 2009 Now you've gone and lost me. If I were to do something as malicious as attack a game, or a cpanel none the less, rest assured a proxy would be used. That's just common knowledge. Turns out, this person attacked his Cpanel through his own computer. Quote
Zero-Affect Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 One would assume a innocent party would request police presence if one were to try and prove innocence. Quote
Joshua Posted December 24, 2009 Author Posted December 24, 2009 We are already checking into that (; IP theft is the same as Normal Thef, classified under Identification Theft. I can only go off of what I know, as of right now, McFarlin has more info than I do ^_- Quote
Mcfarlin Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 We cannot find anything that does not point to you bro. the only thing i do know for sure now is that i do not have a clue who it was, if it wasnt you. sinse i have had to redo my PC to get rid of a little *bug* on it deleting files on it as well. i am moving on, and am putting this behind me. however i have taken certain measures to keep this from happening again. no im not telling what has been done but them getting into my pc again will not happen. Joshua Posted December 25, 2009 Author Posted December 25, 2009 Well at least you've got your computer tighented up and can move on. Did your brother ever manage to trace the IP? Don't forget, my offer for Free Assistance still stands as well (: Quote
Zeggy Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Some ISPs allocate a single IP to all the users in an area, and they all go through the same proxy. An IP doesn't always refer to a single person, or any person at all. ALso, it's not possible to 'steal' your IP. IP spoofing is possible but not likely in this case. In a ddos, yes. In 'hacking a website', no. (That's why proxies still exist.) Now, assuming your logs are correct and the hacker used YOUR IP address, the problem most likely lies on your computer. Check it for viruses, spyware, etc., anything that could allow somebody to take over control of your computer. Then again, it could be that the hacker changed/removed the log entries that refer to him (as any good hacker would do). Quote
POG1 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 boo hoooo!! Sort yourself out, you are complaining because you didn't expect it? *1 lesson - expect the worse and treat every setback as a lesson, there is no need to rant about stuff from the past. Quote

Sort yourself out, you are complaining because you didn't expect it? *1 lesson - expect the worse and treat every setback as a lesson, there is no need to rant about stuff from the past. not sure who your talking to here, but several lessons were learned. This was not from the past, the topic started when it happend. you the one posting late in it. Then again, it could be that the hacker changed/removed the log entries that refer to him (as any good hacker would do). and this is what we are thinking happend here as well, cant find anything that does not point to immortal. but i dont think he did it. Joshua Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 Well I'd hope I've helped you enough in the past, as well as others for people to know better regardless of how it appears. I mean, we were just discussing not long ago how you were debating on paying me to secure your site. I'd be an idiot to hack someone who was offering me money :P I do have a baby girl to feed >,< Just the same, I am sorry this happened to you as you are one of the better people here on MWG and have a lot of promise. Good luck in your gaming endeavors and remember i'm always on msn if you need assistance. --thug Quote
