Re: Were does ppl host

There is no way you are running a gaming server on a $4 plan, no matter how much space, sorry.

The server just wouldn't be capable with all the other sites.

this post confused me... care to explain how it wouldn't be capable?

My host which i listed here somewhere....Is Host Monster.

they have no limit on anything. You can say what you want about unlimited host. But my speeds are just fine. Faster than most actually. 2 years now..so don't think its going to change, lol...And its only 5.95 month.

Unless your planning on playing with just you and like 3-4 of your friends on the server, it couldn't be used to openly game as a shared server.

There simply would not be enough space.

Sorry to say but you are quite wrong, just ask around how many people here are on shared servers with games that make quite an amount of traffic and they don't have a single complaint, unless we go talking on games that have obviously 1k+ users at the same time logged on, which is hardly meets the current usage of most of the game owners around here.

We aren't talking about text games, or I wasn't at least.

I assume by "gaming clan" he meant video gaming, as I've never heard of a textrpg gaming clan before.

lol i never said i was running a game server with that hosting ;)

i said i have a game server ;) which and i also said that the game server uses a fastdownload ;) maybe i didnt say it clearly enough :P

i have a game server for a game, which doesnt reside on the webhost it runs off a main server in london so its ping is about 23 - 34 so pretty low for uk players. but i run a fastdownd server off it wich i put a link from a webroot url so it downloads the maps and stuff from it :P so its downloading all the time which takes up alot of bandwith is that clear ? :)

but im currently useing a sub domain for the text rpg while i get it set up, i will be useing this osting company for a main domain :P

Re: Were does ppl host

i used 3ix in the beginning but they suspended me for using min crons, as Haunted Dawg said www.byethost.com is good, also www.lunarpages.com is pretty good

I was told by the live help that min crons where acceptable, but I now retract the sugestion of using 3ix.

I DO NOT RECOMEND 3IX

I have just moved my account from them, after a 72+hour outage, after they lost data from my account, after one off there live help techs had an attitude with me because I asked to many times what was happening, what is the correct no. of time to ask when you are told 2 hours and 24 hours later its still down?

I felt that I had no right in expecting to be kept upto date with server status.

There usual reply "techs now about the issue and are working on it, your site will be back in a couple of hours",

One said "primary hard drive failed, reinstalling Centos on new hard drive".

I'd have thought that they would have had a back up server.

Over 80 hour outage this year, and some live chat techs need to be trained in customer services.

Re: Were does ppl host

I tried multiple hosts on their $10 or less "shared hosting" and due to resource usages every single host ended up shutting me down.

Then I went to Lunarpages VPS and have had no problems since.
