Hey MWG,
I've been building Empire Heights, a persistent multiplayer crime-life RPG that runs in the browser and on phones (mobile-first, no download). It's live and free to play.
What's in it:
A living city map with districts, properties and player-owned businesses with real employees
Careers: player cops and EMTs answering live dispatch calls, hunters in The Wilds, lawyers in a working court system
Racing (cars and bikes), boxing circuit, golf and horse racing
Crews, turf, live city events like heists, car meets and mayor elections
Chat bubbles over players on the map, character identity with RP names and records
It's deliberately slow-paced, with energy and timers. Paid extras are cosmetic or convenience, and properties are bought with game cash only.

I'd really value feedback from other devs here, especially on onboarding, balance and the mobile UI. Happy to answer questions about the build too.
