  1. Technically, yes, but it still bypasses the need to enter a username, password, email, etc. then having to use a code in e-mail. However, do you think it'll be better to have a simple registration process: Username, Email (password is sent via e-mail)? My goal here is to give players quick & easy access to the game. Note: I also think that all games should have screenshots/features listing on their home pages. - - - Updated - - -   You'd at least need to name your character, but yeah, you'd be in the game. It'd be restricted, but you'd be able to play features like the ajax based combat system, along with getting loot from this, along with the initial new account 'present/perk' in inventory. The goal is to reduce the barrier to entry.
  2. I'm looking at implementing a system where a new player can start playing immediately without having to 'register' an account. Basically, what happens is the following: Player clicks the 'Play Now' button/text/whatever Player is taken to a character creation screen where they name their character, choose their initial skillsets, choose their avatar, enter email (for a uniquely generated character code that is e-mailed to them) and then click play. They'll immediately be allowed into the game with restrictions (no trading/messaging of other players, for example). After a certain amount of time the character they created will be set in a disabled state, and they'll need to use the unique code, along with registering an account, to continue playing. (Btw, they can do this immediately during this time period or even from the start). I'm sure there's been many other games that have done something similar, but I'd like to know your thoughts/get your feedback on this.
  3. Hi Peter, It looks great as is, but if you want to perfect it then you may want to pull back a tad on the 'perfect' cutout of the wrinkles, etc. Make the edges a tad more strait, but not too much. However, again, I'd say that it looks great as is, anyway.
  4. I also own a couple other domains that I could be willing to part ways with: mygamertools.com playacid.com - - - Updated - - - Also, I want to note that I have a VPS currently setup if anyone has other proposals.
  5. I'm really not sure I want to sell this domain, but I do want to get a general idea of what this domain would be worth. Plus, I do have a license for MCCodes v2 (can we transfer these licenses?) which I'd be willing to setup for someone on their own hosting if they were interested in the domain + the MCCodes license. Anyway, the domain is TotalGangsters.com. I've built my own browser game engine since there were too many features that both MCCodes and New World Engine (won't be selling my license for this, though) would simply need a massive code change in order to properly work. Unfortunately, another down side to the designs for Total Gangsters was the amount of content needed. This meant that I needed a bigger budget. After evaluating Kickstarter and other avenues I found that it simply wasn't feasible. Again, I'm more than content to sit on the domain until I either find the capital to do what I envisioned for Total Gangsters or another more feasible idea matches it. Also, I'm open to other opportunities if they present themselves. Thanks, Alan Gizmota Games
  6. I'm moving forward now with NWE. I've evaluated several options, along with developing a monetization plan for my game. The first order of business is putting together the premium system. The plan is to allow players to purchase in-game premium currency with RL money then use that to buy stuff in a premium shop. This means I get to to develop and/or extend the existing premium module in NWE. So, basically, I'm just looking for thoughts as I go forward with this. Here soon I'll also look at -if possible- developing an html 5/canvas module.
  7. I bought both NWE and MCCODES v2.
  8. Bah, I'll go ahead and do that. LOL.
  9. So, I may look at purchasing New Worlds Engine, but I'm kinda of hesitant. I like the fact that it has some solid security behind it (anyone experienced with it know how secure it is?). But, how much am I allowed to alter the code? A lot of it will be scrapped and i'll be building some heavy AJAX into it.
  10. Hello All, I'm looking for an engine/framework that features the basic framework for account management, administration, security, and so forth. I looked at MCCodes and the other engines featured here, but the truth is is that I'd be hacking those apart very drastically since the game that I'm building is very unique compared to what those have to offer. The key things, again, are account management (login, registration w/ e-mail verification, session tracking, session security, account security measures, etc), admin tools (can be the basics), and the code needs to both have solid security in place such as string sanitization, password encryption, session hijacking, and so on. It also needs to be well documented and the code needs to be well structured, along with well structured code files. This could be the basics of an existing game that has the base framework in place with the features mentioned above. Now, personally, I'm a Web Developer. I do front-end and back-end development on a big e-commerce website. I have familiarity with and used to editing and introducing new features, plugins, and so forth for frameworks like Magento and Wordpress. I have extensive knowledge of HTML, Javascript, AJAX, PHP, MySQL, and even other programming languages such as C#, C++, VB, along with experience using Truevision3D, Unity3D, and dabbled a little with HeroEngine. I've also been doing Web Development for over 10 years. I need this engine/framework fairly quickly, otherwise I'd build it myself. I'm about to invest in around $600 - $750 in artwork, and submit the game to Kickstarter. However, I will need a basic gameplay demo in place. But, I'm also on a fairly tight schedule, and I'm going to ultimately want to release the game this Summer. Either you can reply here, PM me, or add me to MSN ([email protected]) or e-mail there. Also, if the Kickstarter proves to be a success I'll be looking to hire an additional programmer(s) to work on back-end stuff. If the Kickstarter fails, I will be doing the coding myself (but the project will take much longer to launch).
